Re: Fancy A Cuppa? Connect Now

@rav3n i volunteer as a mentor for youth (usually ~13yo); the program focuses on supporting them 1:1 through learning/building skills for resilience, goal-setting, help-seeking, etc. Or just giving them to space to chat about anything they want to with a safe adult for an hour a week! But it only runs for 2 school terms per year, unless I also volunteer for their new online program during the off-season. I'll decide that closer to the time. This is my 3rd year volunteering with the program. 🙂

My tum held up ok. Cheese is ALWAYS worth it. 😅 as is a good Iced/frappe coffee haha.

Lovely to hear you're getting some sunshine. 🙂 fresh air sounds a good opportunity!

@AlwaysMyself that program sounds really awesome! working with others, especially youths can be so rewarding hey. i imagine it means a lot to those kids too, they're lucky to have amazing people like you helping out!

good to know your tum survived! haha yes worth it for sure! i haven't had as many iced drinks cos of the weather, can't wait for the warmer seasons just so i can go on my iced coffee spree hehe.

how's your Wednesday going?

Re: Fancy A Cuppa? Connect Now

@rav3n How are you? Very slow day my end. There seem to be issues receiving alerts for when I’m tagged. I just noticed you’d said hello.

Im just having a coffee at home. Spent last two days doing rental inspections and dealing with current landlord who’s sending pretty depressing emails. Really got to me yesterday and today.

At least it is sunny much more pleasant and lets me sit on the porch.

Re: Fancy A Cuppa? Connect Now

Sorry to hear you're having landlord issues @Cuddlebear 😞 hope you find a good place to move to soon!

Glad the sun is out for you. 🙂

We had a cold day here. Max temp just over 10. But I was in the office, so didnt affect me until I've gotten home and its still pretty chilly inside due to no heater.

Goal achievement: tax return done!! Woohoo!

@rav3n how did your day pan out?

Re: Fancy A Cuppa? Connect Now

@AlwaysMyself Hello how was work today? Are you warm and snuggly now?

Yes received a notice to vacate and having huge issues securing a new rental. If I can’t get one by 12 August I’ll be homeless. Feeling pretty terrified at the moment.

Re: Fancy A Cuppa? Connect Now

@Cuddlebear eeekk, deadline can be very scary! Especially when its something so essential as accommodation.

Do you have a list of emergency housing places that you can apply for whilst trying to find a permanent rental?? Or a trusted friend/family to stay with (couch surf) if worst comes to worst??

All my fingers and toes are crossed for you!

I snuggled up with a blanket this evening, and just heading to bed under warm quilts. 😊 one of my dogs wants to be a foot warmer by laying across my feet as usual. But if I move too much she moves off them lol.

Re: Fancy A Cuppa? Connect Now

@AlwaysMyself How are you? Your volunteer work sounds so good. It’s so very kind of you to be doing that.

Yes I’ve contacted the housing access point in case I need emergency accomodation. Problem is everything is full and it might not be an option. I don’t have friends / family to stay with. It’s hard I’m also deaf and blind and have a part foot amputation so not easy and it’s been really stressful. Thank you for the good luck!

Are you volunteering today?

Re: Fancy A Cuppa? Connect Now

@Cuddlebear Im glad you're on the list, and hopefully with your additional accessibility needs you may also get some level of prioritisation come 12 Aug

Do you use Auslan at all? I do! (Im not deaf myself, but I love the language and now have many Deaf and hard of hearing friends from my local communities. Dont worry, I keep everything separate here cos the world is just too small!).

Volunteering is just a Tuesday thing. But im working today (normally I dont on Thursdays). But then weekend 😄 no work tomorrow

Re: Fancy A Cuppa? Connect Now

@AlwaysMyself That’s great you are working today but have the weekend off. Do you have any plans? You mentioned you had 2 dogs! How old are they? I’ve got a seeing guide dog and he turns 2 on 3rd of August 🙂 He’s such a good boy and my whole world. He too keeps me nice and warm lol! 😂

Yes I can use some Auslan but not heaps and heaps. I mainly rely on writing stuff down or if I’m sitting close enough I can lip read. I also have hearing aids. I’ve just had a new NDIS plan that finally has Auslan funding but I’m not going to start classes until I find a place to move to. I also use textiles a lot.

It’s awesome you’ve learned Auslan. It’s so very useful and means you can make friends too in deaf community!
