Hi @PsyAJ_duck16
Welcome to the forums.
I have found them to be a welcoming and supportive place.
I hope you find that also.

Hi, yes I have only just joined this today so still figuring it out but it is so reassuring to see the number of people who know how I feel and would understand me and how I talk about it. I find the being misunderstood part of this journey to be hard and isolating because sometimes it's just easier to not.
I look forward to reading and talking with you all.

Re: C-PTSD and Childhood Trauma
I was at one of my usual haunts today and oh my goodness... what the heck... I was feeling unusually open and this child came up to my trolley...
his mum... oh my goodness... she asked me if I had children... I told her that they're not living... She just kept asking questions, one after the other... how old were you... how old were they... and kept talking about it... shared that she was sexually abused at 13 and almost lost her little boy running around... I had just met her...
The manager who is quite familiar with me said I handled that well and that I was very restrained. But I mean OH. MY. GOODNESS.
Very much overwhelming.
Then something else today...
I caught up with a friend of mine... I found out something that made me so so angry...
The 7 year anniversary... the one where my friends wife got up and left? Turns out it was me that upset her... THAT I ASKED FOR HELP... I mean what the bleep! She told me. She literally told me that I could deal with the emotional fallout of having a tooth removed and coming down off the sedative with NO ONE around! With all that I've been through and all the emotional upheaval of everything and she said to me that I should be alone in this.
It was like saying that this trauma is your problem, leave us out of it...

Hey @avant-garde ,
Thank you for sharing. I hear how unsettling that would've been for you.
It sounds like you put yourself out there, sought for support whilst in a vulnerable place and the situation flipped?
Sitting with you through this.

@tyme
Yeah, it had felt off between me and her after that day, but it felt incredibly isolating that I reached out, I was vulnerable, I asked for help and like I was told that I shouldn't. I was out of line.
Her husband has an office opposite the dental surgery and I asked to hang out there after the extraction to let the meds wear off in a supportive environment. She said it was wrong to ask. To go sit in the library.
