Therapist issues...

Therapist issues...

Something happened in therapy on Tuesday that I'm very conflicted about...

I appreciate my therapist so so much... but part of it... towards the end... it stopped feeling like therapy and rather I was consoling her...

I understand that I'm really easy to talk to and it came out of a place of wanting to be completely transparent with me about the next year...

She's only become a full therapist march this year and has had to take extensive time off and left me in the lurch... now she's taking January off... and doesn't know if she's coming back...

She was open and transparent with me about her struggles with doing this job... she cares about her clients... she cares about me... but to share that she's so so overwhelmed and struggling... that she's staying for her clients... and me? consoling her? it feels like a shift...

and she asked me not to tell anyone...

I don't know what to do

Having control is so powerful @avant-garde , especially when the situation feels so unpredictable.

Are you at peace with the final decision? It sounds like you feel okay about it, but I wanted to make sure.

@tyme

Less ok, more defeated, like 'it is what it is and I have to deal with it'

Some might call that radical acceptance

Fair enough... @avant-garde

Yeah, radical acceptance I guess. It's happened for a purpose and so let it be...

So sorry this was the result. It’s difficult to not have support over the Christmas period. It can be a difficult time for many people. I hope that you can find a way to make the next therapist work for you or that you find one who will. It’s such a pity about the price increase. Thinking of you

My last therapist I was with for 3 years... it ended so horribly...

I shared my story but when it came to some of the darker stuff she skirted around the topic. I avoided the topic for 2 years and just kept with the bandaid approach. When I couldn't avoid it anymore she said to me "I don't believe you and neither does my supervisor".

I had had a session with her supervisor in that first year to assess my eligibility to their group program. They had talked about me openly, with my name, not told me, and concluded that my experiences were a lie. They treated me for another two years anyway.

When I approached the topic I found this out, they breached my confidentiality, shattered my trust and I started trying to find a new therapist.

What made me so angry though is that the supervisor is only a counsellor and she's supervising psychologists and clinical psychologists. According to the Australian Psychological Society they need to be of a higher qualification to be a supervisor.

That and they didn't tell me.

No I haven't reported them but I want to.

Then someone new come 2024 and now someone new come 2025

Who the heck would actually expect honesty when it came to a Christian psychology company! That they desert me for a month, increase the price, and get the days wrong! Now I get to find another person entirely and maybe even a different company!

Tell me! Why am I even considering staying with this company!
