Putting yourself out there

Putting yourself out there

Hi, I am an incredibly shy person and have never taken steps to tell someone how much I care about them and hope for a relationship. Well that changed two weeks ago when I told the guy that I have been hanging out with now for over year that I cared about him a lot.... He politely said thank you and that he loves spending time with me but he's decided to not be in a relationship with anyone. Now, the thing is for this past year we have nearly loved in each other's pockets. We have spent so much time together that people around us have questioned whether or not we were together. I even thought he had feelings....but now I just feel like I was crazy. Some of you may say that I just need to walk away and you are probably right but I am grieving so much right now and I'm sure my friends are sick of me talking about it. I just wanted someone who thought like me, enjoyed the same things as me etc just saw me and willing to give it a go. Thanks for reading my rant. It's a bit hard right now.

Re: Putting yourself out there

@tyme yes, I have a little brother. He flew into Melbourne today with his new girlfriend. I have to keep telling myself not to compare myself with them because it's not a competition.

She's really intelligent, yet down to earth. Her Dad is, too. I like her already!

@PeppyPatti yes, they are mostly my drawings, plus a watercolour painting and a Chinese calligraphy piece (the red one) done by two different Chinese calligraphy/painting masters, one in QLD and one in VIC.

@rav3n it doesn't matter what skill level or flexibility you start on: I'm a firm believer in the growth/developmental mindset and lifelong learning - it leads towards self-actualisation (see Maslow's hierachy of needs, again!). So the main thing is you give it a try - if you enjoy it, keep going! That's all part of self-compassion/love/understanding, etc.

Re: Putting yourself out there

Yes @Spirit_Healer there is no comparing.

I'm probably unfortunately as I have missed many life lessons - older than you. One of mY objects in life - it's a bloody passion

A DESIRE to be close to my brother's. I have 3. All very successful but lately I can only see their shortcomings

And that is not going to happen. I will not be close to them for another day 15 years, if ever. I will not get close to my brother's. They are too caught up in their paths. Their defences (??) to keep away from where they were brought up.......... .....not my youngest brother, he's trying to get Mums house.

And the worst thing is .....remember my oldest brother and I became really really close when in our early 20s ?

Well that's over. Wow, I'm feeling stronger every day because that's what we do here at Sane Forums. We support each other and if I ever want to cry, here I come.

I feel that every day @Spirit_Healer we have a choice how to live our lives and I love reading you. Your Mum and Dad and pets. Take whatever you can to survive another day. I choose Sane Forums.

I choose to drink water , brush my very naturally coloured blond hair. Stop lying A M.

Wash my blue eyes and hop in the shower again.

I'm learning how to use excel.

Can I bring roast lamb to Christmas @Shaz51

@Faith-and-Hope how are you my friend ? You are on my mind. You are strong and brave and gutsy.

@Spirit_Healer decorating your place can be very therapeutic, it’s a form of art. The new place looks amazing 💖. My parents have a thing with Japanese decor

Thank you, @creative_writer . It's like interior design on a smaller scale. I have now also bought lighting and furniture pieces, chosen carefully to suit the vibe I want.

Thank you, @Sunnyside226 !

Happy New Year (links to my post on Shaz51's thread) to both of you, and @Shaz51 and everyone else, too!

Re: Putting yourself out there

@creative_writer I have a theme going in my unit: brown wooden furniture (coffee table, bookshelf and TV bureau) and pewter-coloured finishes on metal (my floor mirror and the lighting - desk lamp and my floor lamp). My floor lamp is being delivered the day after my discharge. I'm really pleased with the look so far! But most of all, it's the agency I have over my decisions that is the most empowering.
