Triggers

Triggers

  • Hi team,

I've been just discharged from the mental ward a few days ago, been there involuntary for 3 weeks due to a manic psychotic episode. I've recovered from that. But since being home, its been very triggering and exhausting, but I can't deal with that now because I have to go back to work.

How to work this one out?

Re: Triggers

Hey @Fun ,

Sounds like things have been very hectic lately.

Do you feel ready to return to work? That is, do you think you are able to work?

In a way, work can provide some routine and stability and predictability which may aide recovery.

However, if you feel it is more stressful to work at this time, do you have any other options?

Re: Triggers

Hi @tyme,

I have to return to work, I've been on unpaid leave since I was at hospital. I have no choice but to return to work. Yes, it does create routine and distraction, but I work as a tax accountant, we are under pressure all year round, and it's overwhelming, but I do not have a choice. Honestly, it's not just about work, I'm really tired from being mentally sick for a while now and life doesn't cut me a break. I honestly hate life so much. Just passive thoughts.

Can you work from home @Fun ?

Or can you do some lighter work so you can ease back into it?

What are things you enjoy doing?

Re: Triggers

Yes I'm going to be working from home. I don't mind getting back to work, like I said it makes do something and set a routine.
During the weekend after discharge I've been drawing, painting, sculpting, playing drums, cleaning.... all kinds of distractions, until now it's a bit overwhelming.

Re: Triggers

Take it easy and go slow. Listen to your body if you need a break. @Fun

Hopefully the routine will help a bit.

All the best with tomorrow.

Re: Triggers

Hi @tyme,

I'm trying my best to get out of the house more often, forcing me to socialise so I can get better. It's been working and I'm slowly going out of my depressive episode building up work routine and activities after. I'm testing it out.
Thank you for asking.
I'm trying my best

Hey @Fun ,

Trying your best - that's the most anyone can ask of you.

There may be some trips, bumps, and falls along the way, but it's about how you get up.

We're here if you need an ear.

Yes, routine can bring some stability, as long as you monitor yourself so you don't burnout.

Thinking of you 🙂

Hi @tyme ,

Honestly not so well. SH urges are high. I'm trying so much, doing activities... But my mood is low and I'm physically tired all day. I'm feeling pessimistic that my mood will be better any time soon. It's disappointing.
