Anyone started with the NDIS?

Anyone started with the NDIS?

Tells my story from initial application (Feb '17) to acceptance by NDIS (July '18) and the process of putting things in place and progress, improvements, managing and difficulties since then. Now Jan '21.

Original post : I've recently moved and will need to get into the NDIS in my new location. Wondering if anyone in the forums has successfully done this? Any advice would be welcome. Feeling swamped by their website.

EDIT : I was finally accepted to the NDIS and am now 3/4 through my 2nd plan. With only a small reduction from the first year. And this plan is for 2 years so I don't have to jump through all the hoops with a review this time next year. To all others on this path I say ........

IT'S REALLY WORTH PERSEVERING!!!

Hoping this thread helps all who come here.

Sitting with you @eth, through the triggers and stressors this is bringing up and out for you. You're doing so much to help yourself and to prepare. I have everything crossed that you get the result you want and need.

@eth I hear you about cost of living and esp therapy.

It is a crazy balancing game.

I can cope with pens and built up security but was really struggling last year when my son was not getting any Centrelink and I was running house and car on a pens for one.

I have only had fortnightly appointments for about a year and that was funded by Royal Commission, before that I spaced out appointments to bare minimum to cope with them financially.

Coffee and movies are rare. For decades they were out of the question, but now I do allow a few per year.

Part of my approach is that the best tickets are on stage, so I keep being part of the entertainment..lol

Cut costs and have some interest in life.

I wish you could find a group of people to connect with in your new location ...

to do some ... activism or creativity with ...

Thanks @Appleblossom

Have spent several hours today reading over all the AAT and NDIS paperwork we've collected. Glad I did as I found some stuff about NDIS rules and policy guidelines that sil had that I hadn't seen. But brain is swimming with it all now. Hopefully I'll follow what happens at the hearing better now that I've done it.

hello @eth

When I had my major surgery I focussed as much as I could,..,,on the time post surgery...that was my count down.....

did not always work of course...did help relieve some of the anxiety..

is human nature to feel anxious...part of our self preservation...

how many days until you go away?

Have you started practising with your iphone gps and photographs yet?

might help to have some photographs on your iphone if you feel a little disoriented or alone...homesick...missing brother and sil...your garden....

you will of course have all the support of your friends on these threads...

@eth

ps...many people won't know what ps means laugh

I managed to put a spoiler in above message...I think from touching yellow icon above which I always think is a smiling icon...have not a clue what a spoiler is......spoils what?

if this "ps" confuses you even more than my previous message just ignore.... I am confusion personified at present and have stopped fighting it..just flowing with it now until it subsides...

thinking of you
