Anyone started with the NDIS?

Anyone started with the NDIS?

Tells my story from initial application (Feb '17) to acceptance by NDIS (July '18) and the process of putting things in place and progress, improvements, managing and difficulties since then. Now Jan '21.

Original post : I've recently moved and will need to get into the NDIS in my new location. Wondering if anyone in the forums has successfully done this? Any advice would be welcome. Feeling swamped by their website.

EDIT : I was finally accepted to the NDIS and am now 3/4 through my 2nd plan. With only a small reduction from the first year. And this plan is for 2 years so I don't have to jump through all the hoops with a review this time next year. To all others on this path I say ........

IT'S REALLY WORTH PERSEVERING!!!

Hoping this thread helps all who come here.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

Thanks @Former-Member. The added bonus of if/when NDIS funds me is that it will really take the pressure off sil and bro. As things are I am using time from them that they really need for other stuff in their lives.

@Former-Member @Bunniekins @Appleblossom @Former-Member and anyone else following this thread. My statement is now 17 pages long and is yet to be added to by my solicitor. I'm taking a copy of it to my psychologist today. Never-ending story .......

You are doing all the due diligence. @eth One step at a time. If I think about a document that holds so much pain. I would want to wrap it up well and let it be a very separate carrier of the pain.

Protect yourself from being constantly retriggered.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

I'd love to be able to do that @Appleblossom but at the moment it's really hard. Probably will be at least until the next case conference in mid April. And from that we should know if conciliation is possible or (more likely) we have to go to a hearing.

From past sharing with you, I know you really 'get' what this is like - different experiences but similar with long drawn-out legal battles.

Thanks for your support.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

hello @eth

I believe that you are similar to myself....You are a listener...a giver

therefore you often feel that others doing something for you.... are taking up their valuable time...

yet if the roles were reversed you would not be thinking that way about them..

There are far more receivers...takers in this world...than there are givers...even fewer listeners

Perhaps your brother and sister in law are wanting to help you with this energy zapping debacle...as this is something that they can do for you...they cannot take away your pain and suffering...perhaps even feel that they cannot begin to understand what you are going through....they perhaps do not understand how draining mental illness is...this is the case with most people who have not experienced mental illness for themselves...

hence carers become worn out...relationships become strained...some end sadly...families separate...become estranged...

you are very worthy of their help which I am sure they are giving out of compassion...love and such respect for you for who you are @eth

I know that you will find a special way of thanking them...that is you

Good morning and thankyou @mohill maybe something's happened overnight - you are now showing as Former-Member and I can't tag you. I hope you are ok ish and it's not a major issue but am here to talk if you want to.

@Appleblossom @Bunniekins @Former-Member @Former-Member the first email I saw this morning included the 2nd draft of my statement sent through from the solicitor and I've been editing it all morning. I'm sooo looking forward to this process being completed.

I have put it aside now and will not look at it for a day or two. I need proper breaks from the whole matter.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

Thanks @catgirl and congratulations. It sounds like the NDIS system is really working out as it should for you. Do you mind me asking what your diagnosis is/are? Do you have physical disability as well or just psychosocial? That's wonderful that you have such supports and that you are getting a plan that meets your needs.
