Anyone started with the NDIS?

Anyone started with the NDIS?

Tells my story from initial application (Feb '17) to acceptance by NDIS (July '18) and the process of putting things in place and progress, improvements, managing and difficulties since then. Now Jan '21.

Original post : I've recently moved and will need to get into the NDIS in my new location. Wondering if anyone in the forums has successfully done this? Any advice would be welcome. Feeling swamped by their website.

EDIT : I was finally accepted to the NDIS and am now 3/4 through my 2nd plan. With only a small reduction from the first year. And this plan is for 2 years so I don't have to jump through all the hoops with a review this time next year. To all others on this path I say ........

IT'S REALLY WORTH PERSEVERING!!!

Hoping this thread helps all who come here.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

Hugs @eth My NDIS journey is just beginning.

@Bunniekins will be thinking of you and your son Wednesday. I hope the appointment brings forth a favourable decision.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

@Bunniekins sounds like you're having a planning review meeting. Wishing you all the best with it. I wonder if you've tried searching the NDIS price list on their website? I found it helpful to look at in terms of clarifying what I will ask for in relation to my goals. Also maybe take a look at the list of planning meeting questions posted. Hope something I've said can help you and your son to get an increase of funds package and satisfactory service agreements with your supports.

@Former-Member my legal aid solicitor is sending guidelines/outlines for the statements we have to write and my sil and her are going to collaborate on mine with me. Thanks for your suggestions.

@Queenie best wishes for your pathway with NDIS. Hoping some of the tips I've mentioned will be helpful to you.

Thanks @Shaz51 and @Mazarita too. Maz I still haven't read the report you posted but perhaps I'll do it tomorrow. Have been saturated with the topic the last few days, as you know.

I did My NDIS journey in 2009 and 2011 @eth, but was refused , my husband Mr shaz said how about doing it again this year

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

I didn't know that @Shaz51. Sorry to hear you were declined twice already. Have you done a request for review of a decision (internal appeal)? Or do you plan to reapply starting from scratch? Disability Advocacy is in every state and might be able to help you.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

Good morning, @catgirl, so good to see you around. I too think of you, but tend not to tag unless someone is visibly around, so as not to be a nuisance. Sorry to hear you are not well at the moment. Wishing you the very best with staying out of hospital. Send a pat and a meaow from me to your tuxedo cat too.

Good morning, @Shaz51, do you mean NDIS, or the disability pension, when you say you tried in 2009 and 2011? I didn't think the NDIS was around at that time. I do remember you saying somewhere else that you had applied for you and Mr Shaz for the disability pension though, and were knocked back a couple of times. Sucks. Especially since it seems so clear to us that you need it. Maybe it is worth another shot now. I think though that Mr Shaz would need to be in ongoing treatment to be eligible, and basically compliant with medications and recommendations by doctors. Might be worth talking to him about that.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

Further to yesterday's update - my solicitor has requested that my support worker's organisation forward their files on me and they haven't responded.

@Mazarita I tried to look at the report you shared but was asked to log in to an unknown site and couldn't access the document.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

lovely to see you on here @catgirl

hoping that reading some of the threads will help ease your struggles...

I know that I tend to go through the full range of emotions on here....

I made husband a sandwich for lunch before he ventured off to his sporting competition..

whilst delivering the sandwich...I returned to the kitchen to find my calico cat helping herself to the remaining meat on the plate.....

licking her lips..she then cruised across to the sink where I keep a jug for run off warm water from cold tap..to be later used to water pot plants...yes she had a drink...jumped down and gleefully washed her face..

princess not her real name...wants to be fed in the manner behoven to royalty...not on the floor with the peasants...she is such a character..

my other one whom we nick name billy bunter...eats like a dog..wolfs everything down the same way a dog eats...hanging out for more...he also snores very loudly...can be heard from another room..

cats have so much personality...

I can't remember if I told you...my older son who is very unwell and absent has a tuxedo cat (thank you catgirl...I just thought of her as black and white)...she is beautiful...he loved her so much...

sending you mystical moments of peace..
