Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

Zoe7

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

Re: Am Not Coping

I hope to get to that point one day @utopia. To be comfortable in my own skin. To not worry or fear about being me. To feel I am enough. I'm really proud of you that you are able to do this. I am a long way from it

Too many as in how many too many @Zoe7 You know I do this too, I'm just checkin in case. For me once I get above 4 too many I know it's not necessarily safe especially if alcohol is involved.

Re: Am Not Coping

@Former-Member. Don't be misled. I still have self doubt. I'm not perfect. No where near it.
I'm fat. I don't like how I look a lot of the time - my chins join my body. Aaarrrggghhh. Hate my chins. But when I don't look in the mirror. I feel okay. I don't want to keep colouring my hair. I get sick from the chemical dye. I have chemical sensitivities.
I've never been good at doing my hair or makeup. So I think - why bother. Why worry. Tie hair up in a pony tail. Easy. I like easy and simple.
I'm not always a good mum. Most of the time I try. Some times I hide. That's my reality. But I don't want to keep putting myself down for what some will see as my flaws.
There are enough people around who are more than happy to put us down.
I just choose to ignore and avoid those people as much as is possible.
I still get hurt. I still hurt myself. I still listen to my self doubts sometimes. But I push through and try hard not to. And I'm succeeding more and more in ignoring those doubts.
I'm more able to notice that my day has been good & that I just had a shit 5 minutes. Instead of letting that 5 minutes define my whole day. But I had to learn to do this.

Re: Am Not Coping

Sounded like you were describing me ther @utopia .... lol .... think I've found my herd on the forums ....

😊

A lot of my strengths make me vulnerable .... I have learned, mostly the hard way, to develop what @Former-Member has referred to before as "Teflon coating" a soft shield for your vulnerability that allows you to share your strengths but keep from being constantly injured by them also.

Your psychologist will help you with that @Zoe7 .... others on the forum have worked to develop it with their psychologists ... as @utopia and @Kurra have ...

Reat well ....

Hugs 💗💕🌷

Re: Am Not Coping

@Faith-and-Hope. You are right with regards to my old friend. It is his pattern. And he isn't consciously aware of it. He doesn't put in a lot of effort to relationships. I think he believes this will protect him from pain. Instead, it causes more pain. Because if you don't put the effort in, you can't have that relationship you crave.
Hopefully he will acknowledge to himself that this is his pattern and will seek help to grow and change his pattern. But until then, he will do the same again and again and end up with the same result - lonliness.

Re: Am Not Coping

@Zoe7. Are you sure the tablets you took are just making you sleepy - but no further harm. You do need to tell me and @Former-Member - as we both have experience of this and we will worry all night.
So let us know honestly please. What and how many did you take?

Re: Am Not Coping

As highly empathetic and compassionate people @utopia we can tend to over-extend ourselves trying to "save" others from their circumstances .... but the only ones who can really "save" them is the person themselves .... anything else is a salve, a bandaid, a prop ....

We can help by listening, by being there within reason, but not allowing our own life to collapse in the process of trying to help them ... that is just creating more problems ....

We can model healthy processing patters ....

We can encourage their efforts towards self-help .... towards accessing people and services trained to support whatever their difficulty is ....

We can't actually pick them up and carry them forward, as much as we might like to, because the changes have to start within the person themselves.

Youre a good friend .... 💗

I'm with @utopia on this @Zoe7. I'd just like to know that your really safe. I am assuming that you know the line and that all is ok. If it was me or @utopia or anyone else here you'd want to make sure too. Please put yourself in someone else's shoes right now and let us know.

Re: Am Not Coping

@Faith-and-Hope. I agree with what you are saying.
That's why I got hurt. I hoped he was also on the path to healing. But his journey was different to mine. Mine includes therapy and learning. His includes avoidance & pretending the trauma didn't affect him. Denial.
I'm ever the optimist. I hope one day he gets the professional help he needs to be able to move forward. But as I've said before. It's his story. His journey. You are right. We can not take people on our journey.
I'll head off to bed - once I make sure @Zoe7 meds are just causing her to be sleepy and nothing else.
Has been great being on your tag team with you again.
