Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

Zoe7

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

Re: Am Not Coping

Morning @utopia It really was a long hard night and you and @Faith-and-Hope got me through. Yes she is an amazing woman and she does have a gift for calming people down and also helping them to just hold on

I had a couple of hours sleep - not much but at least I had some. As you could imagine - I'm exhausted today and I am going to just take it easy, not put any pressure on myself to do anything but rest. Anything else can wait!!

Hope you got those extra hours sleep in this morning and you are going to take it easy yourself today.

Aboriginal Learnings

Hi @Zoe7

What a tough night - we all know I think - we have all had them - it is really hard enduring such hard hours when it's dark and we need to sleep - and in your case - made a little harder because of what you might do when you are half-asleep -

I missed your first post - I must have gone to bed - I go to bed late and don't always remember the time - but others were here so that is good - really good

I like what @Faith-and-Hope wrote about people's stories weaving their way through the forums - we all have our story - and we share parts of our stories - we link with other people and the whole exercise becomes a basket or a hammock or crossed hands to help lift the wounded being at the centre of their story - and we all do this and we all receive this -

Heaven knows I have endured a lot through my life - not an MI or SI or SH - but really tough issues that I have not had any control over - and my contribution often is that time does pass - things do change - we live and grow and this is a painful process

And although getting older is no fun at all - we do gain some peace - at least - I have in my time

So the stories - like all stories - have a beginning, a middle and an end - and ti was the ancient philosopher Aristotle who made this rather obvious comment - but it is true - so your story began and now we are somewhere in the middle - and you will reach a place of peace in time

I do remember terrible nights - mmmm - they can happen whatever we do

But about your thinking that you can't expect anyone to help you when you don't want to help yourself - wow - you may not see it but you have made a profound statement here - but we won't ignore you because you feel you won't help yourself - when you are in such a bad place it is the best place to start growing - and the best place to rest easy while others turn back your blanket - help you into bed and tuck you in and leave a night-light burning

Lots of hugs - you would be surprised how different things can be in the future - you just can't see it yet

Re: Am Not Coping

@Decadian. I love that - when you feel you don't deserve any support - thats when @Zoe7 or any of us that are in that place - just need to let others pull back the blankets - tuck you in and leave a night light on.
That moved me greatly. Because it is exactly what we do here on the forum. The way you said it .... perfect. You can tell you are a writer.
@Faith-and-Hope ... I have to say ... your tree painting .... that's the colour of the sky sometimes up on my mountain. When I look through the trees to the sky beyond ... it often amazes me the colours that the sky can be. And the tree itself is such a stand out. I love looking at trees - their leaves - the intertwining branches - but most of all - the trunks. The different colours of the bark. The different textures. No two trees are alike. They are amazingly unique. A bit like is on the forum. Similar backgrounds or traumas. Similar MI's. But still uniquely different.
Do you know, I didn't truly appreciate where I lived until I was getting better last year. Never noticed that all trees are different. Never noticed the beauty that was there.
I'm so grateful my eyes have finally opened and I can see all that is around me.

Re: Am Not Coping

Hi @Decadian Yes it was a really long and tough night to get through. I'm still not sure how I did - I was really on the edge a few times - I really don't know what I would have done without the support.

@Faith-and-Hope wrote so beautifully and honestly about how everyone's stories weave through each other, just as you have also done. I think for me it is finding that place where I can both support others and understand and accept that sometimes I need it also and that people are there to give it - and are willing and happy to give support - and that doesn't mean I am a failure.

The biggest issues I have are trust and asking for help. I have lived so alone and independently - and isolated myself from others for so long because of my fears and how much I have been hurt. Recently I began to trust someone and started to break down some of those walls after many years. The pain and hurt has just been compounded because of all the other things I am dealing with. I have already described it as just keeping my head above the small waves to catch a breathe for a moment and then a tsunami hit. So much all at once and on top of what I was already trying to work through.

Not sure that statement about not wanting to help myself was profound - I had simply nothing left at the time.I think the way you describe the blanket and night light is how I ended up feeling. I felt when the daylight came that I had been carefully wrapped in that blanket and the night light had merged into the natural light - and I was safe.

Re: Am Not Coping

@Zoe7. I did fall back asleep. I woke at 11.45 & then didn't even brush my teeth - judt pulled on some clothes and raced to the chemist before they closed at noon. I didn't want to have to go another weekend without my blood thinners. Wouldn't be good.
Bought my tattslotto tickets - so there is still a chance I won't have to go to work on Monday.
I missed bb auction. Bugger. Not sure if anyone started the party. I sent her a msg just before - & I'll check on her in a minute. I hope she doesn't feel neglected.
Yes I plan on doing nothing much todag. Just reading and taking it easy. I'm going to my best friends house tonight for dinner - tacos - which is what I ate last night. Lol. But a free meal is a free meal. And it means I don't have to cook.
Her dtr started school this week - prep. So I'm going to help with her reading words tonight & will do her reader. I remember when my boy was starting school. Such an exciting time.
So take things eady today. Relax, do some doodling, pat and cuddle Toby, sew some clothes/toys that need mending and sleep when you can.
I'm so proud of what you did last night - to help you get through. That's strength! !
Sending you a hug and extra strength.

Re: Am Not Coping

@utopia I sent bb a message earlier - I'm really hoping that we haven't heard anything because she is celebrating good news and that we can join her in partying later.

Really glad you got to the chemist in time - that would have been too long without them it it was closed!

Is that the same friend's dtr that you tool to the park the other day? The little preps are so cute - so excited and scared at the same time - I'm going to miss all that this year. The first week is usually such a lovely week because all the kids are happy to see you and you have some freedom to just get to know them a bit more without the constraints of all the other parts of the job. It's going to be hard to know that I want to be there but can't - yet another hurdle to get over this week.

I really do believe that last night could have gone the other way very quickly - there was one point when I literally begged for help (definitely not something I do). My expectations of getting help when I ask are pretty much non-existent in my life - so I just don't ask - and then I can't be let down. So to ask and then receive help last night is a novelty for me - but so glad it came.

In response to: Am Not Coping

Re: Am Not Coping

Get used to the novelty @Zoe7. We are here to support each other. Whether you ask or not - we are standing with you - holding your hand - supporting you.
Am so impressed you reached out. What is the S??? That you contacted last night? Maybe it's a Tassie organisation.
Yes my best friends dtr - I call her my niece - so she has family in town. I watched her last Sunday for a few hrs. She is gorgeous. Opinionated - strong willed - talkative - love of learning all about nature. She's like her Aunty. Except she likes Pink!! Yuk.
I'll send another msg to bb now. My mobile has been playing up today. Fingers crossed it holds out for a few more weeks. Then I'll buy a new one. Oh and have to put money aside for my first tattoo in April. A Celebration of my new life.

Re: Am Not Coping

Oh yes @utopia the unidentifiable tattoo that would be very identifiable!!!!!

I'm not a fan of pink either - but don't tell @Faith-and-Hope shhhhhhh!!!!

SCBS - suicide call back service - supposed to be 24/7 - guess what - there was no-one available and lifeline just made me feel worse

Lucky I had you guys

In response to: Am Not Coping

Re: Am Not Coping

Oh bugger!!! Must be so hard and devastating when suicide services don't have staff to take your call. Even though lifeline wasn't great - I'm glad there was another service you could call / contact. And most importantly - that you reached out too.
So glad @Faith-and-Hope & @Decadian were available last night. And we always have the mods if we need.
I'm impressed that you hung in there last night. Guess what???? I think you got over thehump. Yes iit's still a struggle. Yes you are still standing still and cannot see the light - but you are over the hump. From here on - it's gently does it. Self love. Even when you don't believe you deserve it. Just do it - because I believe in you. Do it - because others believe in you. And soon, my dear friend, you too will see and know that you deserve it too.
Until then. Be gentle with yourself.
Ok - bb house didn't sell. She is devastated but about to talk to the agent soon. I've suggested we have a party anyway today - on the Beef Garden thread. And I've asked her to post - when she is ready to start. So I'll include you in my invite list. But don't stress - there is no obligation to attend. Only if you want to. And you are welcome to pop in and out if that suits you. Either way - I'll be here to talk with you today.
Yes my identifiable tattoo. Lol. It will be based on nature and my love of country. My local country. I can't wait! But I am such a woos (don't know how to spell that word). But I'm a scardy cat when it comes to physical pain. Don't tell Cat, I said that. She's probably stronger than me

Re: Am Not Coping

Guess what @utopia I think you may actually be right - don't fall off your chair (or your feet)!!! Last night was HUGE - in more ways than one. I did get through it, and I did ask for help, and I did accept help. As bad as I felt - I stayed!!! I'm not going to pretend that it is going to be easy but asking for support is soooooo hard for me and I have done that.

I even ate today - but now feel sick because it has been a few days. I may even take Toby to the beach a bit later as it is a really nice day outside and the wind has stopped - just need my stomach to settle now and my headache to go.

I am still working on accepting that others believe in me - really hard to do when you don't have the same belief in yourself and don't feel like you deserve it. Baby steps xxx

I really feel for bb - such a big build up to be disappointed today - we both know how that hurts (different circumstances of course but the let-down is similar). On the positive side for her there has been interest and I have no doubt it will sell at a price they are happy to accept very soon. Fingers crossed that it is in the next few days to relieve some of the pressure for her.

Cat's asleep so she doesn't care about anything at the moment. Toby is asleep on his blankie next to me - again

Wouldn't have wanted to be desperate last night (note the sarcasm here) re suicide service - not acceptable really.
