Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

Zoe7

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

Hi @Zoe7 I just found your tag in your post from 8 Jan. Lovely to catch up with your news and how things are going for you. Such a positive post. Enjoy the rest of your holidays - take it easy so you've plenty of energy to launch yourself into a new work situation. I'm so happy for you. Hope cat is ok.

Re: Am Not Coping

Cat is doing okay @eth Repeat ultrasound in a few weeks to check her stomach and intestines again - with the hope that there is no return of the cancer. That will happen every 3 months but so worth it to get anything early if the cancer returns.

As often happens it was not the best day yesterday - after a bad night the night before ,,,.but I got through last night and although very tired still today it is a new day 👍 Had a couple of hours sleep and woke again with a headache but caught up on a little more sleep this morning - about 5 hours all up so can function today on that. Had pain killers for headache so waiting again for them to kick in and the headache to hopefully reduce so I cn get stuck into some things.

I still have just a little ironing to do - probably about an hour's worth - but then it is all finally done. Next on the list is the sewing then the massive job of sorting the spare room. I have had the overwhelming feeling today of not being able to do everything I want before going back to work and just how quickly these next 3 weeks will fly by so very much needed to both get things done today as well as settle my anxiety around all that ...and the easiest way to do that is get stuck into things and realise how much I have alredy accomplished. ...have a prn if needed too but that is hopefully no needed.

It is warm today but got the grass and garden watered last night - hoping the newly laid grass seed starts taking with the sun and water on it. I need a few plants for my garden also so can use my vouchers I have accumulated from doing online surveys to get them when they become valid at the end of this month - should be enough to get what I need and will be nice to hve those vacant spaces in the garden filled.

Better get myself mobile and begin some of these jobs for today. Hope everyone is doing as okay as they can be. Very much thinking of you all and sending a little love and hope to you all...

Re: Am Not Coping

Hi again @Zoe7 Hearing that you have a lot you want to put in order before the challenges of full-time work and all the planning that requires kick in. My advice tho' is to pace yourself e.g. set a timetable for, say, 2 hrs at a time going at it (maybe 3 or even 4 periods every 24 hrs) - you will likely achieve more this way than if you push yourself to your limit and burn out and need recovery time. Just saying!

Hope your headache has eased

Re: Am Not Coping

I have been doing that already @eth doing one thing at a time then having a break before I start the next thing. Finished the ironing now having a break before I put it all away and begin the sewing. I know I need some cotton for two things so they won't be done today - will not probably go to Spotlight tomorrow ...can't be bothered to do that today. So the rest of this afternoon is sewing and relaxing before I begin the spare room ...and tht won't have much done tonight as the cricket is on so will be watching that.

Re: Am Not Coping

Hey @Zoe7 congratulations on your new work situation! You always inspire me with how much you get done. I’m in a flat place right now & feel it’s unlikely I’ll ever improve significantly. I’m too scared to try things or be motivated and am avoiding a lot. I have so much to be thankful for. I truly wish I could snap out of this.

Re: Am Not Coping

Oh @Sam3 It is so lovely to hear from you. 😁💖

I do totally get that position you are in - I went through that for a couple of years Hon so don't beat yourself up right now ...depression is drining on so many fronts and part of that is the lack of motivation or energy to do aything. Just like you I never thought it would get any better - I had no hope for so long. It was the wonderful people here that held out that hope for me even when I could not see any myself ...so right now I will hold that hope for you.

After a couple of years I started taking baby steps - they may not have seemed much to some but to me they were significant. One of those was going out without Toby. I had him by my side for those couple of years - everywhere I went I felt safer with him with me - so to do simple things like go to the supermarket without him was huge. Little by little I started getting bsck into routines as well - it made the day more planned out and things achievable. Most days I did not achieve much (and often nothing) but over time it becme more and helped.

Going back to work was the big one and despite being treated really badly I also found my voice - I asked for a change of schools as I did not want to go back to tht toxic environment. That was when life really began to change. The new school was not only supportive but a positive environment to be in - it actually gave me hope that I could not only do the job again but that people do care and are supportive.

So in effect it took over 3 years to get to where I am now - moving to another school where I will once again have my own class (to begin with anyway).

I don't think it is a matter of 'snapping out of it' @Sam3 It is more about working through, making small achievable goals and not beating yourself up if you do not reach them. I used to place so much pressure on myself to get things done - now I live more for the day I am in ...plan ahead yes but one cn only achieve what they can in the moment they are in. That also took me a long time to learn. I think when we appreciate the here and now, take the day hour by hour if needed and find moments of joy or happiness to hold onto then we are taking those baby steps forward ...it is not easy Hon but achievable. Hang onto what you can control, the moment you are in and actively reflect on all that you have got that is good in your life and over time those baby steps will get larger. ....and in the meantime I will continue to hold out that hope for you

Hi @Jezabell89 good to hear from you. I'm really glad you're travelling well. It's encouraging to hear that.

I'm a bit frazzled one way or another. It's been a torrid start to 2020 for me.
