Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

It really is @Teej I often have said I wish that everyone had had the team around them that I have had - and to hear you have that too now is so heartwarming

Hi @Zoe7

Thanks for your great post - yes - you have come a long way and working part-time has been successful - working full-time will be a challenge but getting the financially issues off your back would be a counter-balance - it is never fun having to watch every cent we spend

I had the chance to talk about resilience with my new pschologist - and I agree - once we have been through a dark time and worked our way through we can have the strength and confidence to know we can do it again - I have actually - and I asked my GP about this and he gave me the clues for myself - my son, my mother and chronic pain just for starters -

I think we are all challenged in some ways - everyone is different - my Tuesday helper doesn't want to think about sad things - to me that seems living a half-life - I don't enjoy the sad things but they are their and I think acknowledging them gives me a better perspective and a greater understanding of other people and life generally

And it seems to me that you have a similar grasp - mm - yes - I appreciate being able to share such things

It's great you have more light in your life now and that working with your own class will me you can get to know the kids better - as individuals - and your lesson plans can dovetail - so you can discuss the same issues across different classes and give the kids that deeper perspective - I am sure you will do well and Toby - like human kids - will have to get used to Mum being at work more - and he still has Cat to share his days with - cats can cope with being alone better than dogs - I sometimes tell stories about the one dog I had - thanks for the memories

Yes - there are challenges ahead but you have been doing good work with baby-steps - it's a long way back but you are on your way

And it's great to see you around the forum

Hey @Owlunar The part about talking about sad things struck me the most in your post. I understand both points of view - of yours and your support worker. Sometimes it is too hard or triggering to talk about those things but there is also a time and place to do so. It is of course an individual's choice and decision if they want to talk about those things. For me talking about those things in the present is beneficial but not talking about the big things in my past helps me to stay on top of everything. We are of course all different but I am personally very much trying to live more in the moment so the demons I carry around do not present themselves so often. In saying that if you can talk about those sad things yourself without all the emotional baggage overly affecting you then by all means talk - find that someone that will listen without judgeent and allow yourself thst voice.

Once I begin fulltime again it should only take me a couple of months to be back in front financially - then hoping to be able to begin saving a little again. That of course also depends on Cat and any further treatments she needs. I am off to the vet with her again today as she hs been sick several times in the last couple of weeks. I am suspecting it is just fur balls as often happens at this time of yer biut with her recent history I did not want to not get her checked out.

Yes Toby will settle back into his usual routines when I am back at work - think it takes me longer to get used to being separated from him than he does from me The downside of being at a school further away is that I won't be able to come home during the lunch break to check on them. The last school was 5 minutes away and so esy to come home at lunchtime. It will take a bit of readjustment from me as well.
