Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

Zoe7

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

Hi @Sam3

Thank you ....

Trying to put this into a nutshell for you .... my hubby has an undiagnosed cocktail of eating disordered behaviours, driven from within by some sort of undiagnosed personality issue, which itself emerged like a mid-life crisis ..... and his moods and behaviours and life choices can be all over the place. He doesn’t know he is unwell, although he is masking the symptoms that would lead to diagnosis, and we can’t get help for him. It’s an unhapoy state of affairs that has caused devastating life changes, so we are managing as best we can.

Judging by family patterns, and anxiety and depression issues now triggered in the kids, there is a genetic component here somewhere. We are on a rollercoaster.

@Appleblossom I haven’t yet caught up with the news, but have heard enough snippets here and there to get the gist. Hugs ..... ❣️

Morning everyone .... 👋💕. Still a bit early here, and I don’t have to be at uni this morning so I am hoping to doze back off for a bit, but not sure how likely that is.

Did you get back to sleep @Faith-and-Hope ? Thanks for the ‘nutshell’ summary. You’ve clearly got heaps going on & are managing it really well. Look after yourself. I’m having difficulty accepting I feel numb/low & don’t have hope I feel better as the depression has been on/off for 5 years. I don’t recognise myself anymore & I don’t want to be this amotivated self-absorbed person. Why can’t I just feel normal & be content with all the wonderful things I have (I’m thankful but can’t feel the gratitude if you know what I mean). Is it normal to be just getting by & to not feel anything strongly? I need to get up & go to work but can barely be bothered @Faith-and-Hope @Zoe7 @Appleblossom @BlueBay @Shaz51

Re: Am Not Coping

Morning @Sam3 , good to hear from you again. Yes I think its pretty normal for those of us who suffer depression and/or anxiety, to feel numb or as though life has been turned to mute from time to time. But it wont last forever .... nothing does. This feeling is temporary and you will get through it. In the meantime you need to push yourself to do even the most simple and basic things .. eg getting out of bed, brushing teeth, showering, eating ... basic functioning. The fact that you're also working, is pretty amazing. YOU are amazing! Have a productive day at work today.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope . Morning @Zoe7 I hope the headache has eased and that your work day is another good one.

Re: Am Not Coping

Thanks so much for your encouragement @Former-Member It really does mean a lot. Thanks for the reminder that it will change a bit (ie moments when it lifts so in that sense it’s not permanent). Do you think it’s more likely the depression or the low dose antipsychotic to help with ruminations? I find ‘easy/repetitive’ work is essential to help ease the ruminations. How are you travelling at present?

Re: Am Not Coping

I have been in that state at times before @Sam3 @as a result of emotional burnout, and it might be a form of depression, but I prefer to think of it as “downing tools for the moment” .... a state of rest from emotional responses and hyper-vigilance, racing thoughts, overthinking potential outcomes, etc ..... it helps me to be more accepting of that state and less self-critical about it. I hope that helps you to know.

👋💕 @Former-Member @Shaz51

I know you had to be at work early this morning @Zoe7 .... so here is something for your break .... 💚💐
