Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

Zoe7

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

Re: Am Not Coping

@Sam3 It seems like this new job for you is coming along nicely. It also sounds like the increase in meds has helped and that is great news. I had many, many med changes and changes in dosages until we finally got a combination that has worked for me - the upshot was that I could go back to work after more than 2 years of ups and downs (mostly downs!). The meds certainly helped with both the day to day stuff as well as sleep (which was a major issue for me). Now things are in a much better place for me but it did take a long time - hope it doesn't take as long for you Hon.

This new workplace sounds like there are some nice people there. It was really lovely of your boss to call you on your first day with a positive message for you ...and a happy birthday - it is often those small things that make so much difference.

Update for today @Faith-and-Hope @Sam3 @Former-Member @Appleblossom @MDT @Snowie @Sans911 @CheerBear @Teej @Former-Member @Maggie @Shaz51 @Adge @eth and all following along...

Had a very busy morning and a full on afternoon but made it through. Still had my headache today but it is a little better than yesterday. I see my GP tomorrow so I will mention it to her then. I haven't seen her for a few weeks but it should be a pretty quick appointment as I only need the usual BP check and med review. I don't see my pdoc tomorrow and no early appointments so I can take my time to get ready and get to DBT. That will be good for me as I have been struggling the last couple of days to get up and going - the headache and nausea have not helped with that though.

I did put my name down today to go to dinner on Friday night. There are not many people going so far so it may be a quiet night. I suspect they will nearly all go out after dinner but that will not be something I will do. I might meet for pre-dinner drinks beforehand but that will depend on how much time I have when I get home and how I am feeling. Just deciding to go and putting down my name was anxiety provoking for me but I have done it now - and like some of you have said - I can leave if I need to - the important thing is I am going to go hey!

good on you for going to the event @Zoe7 that's good for your rapport building with staff. I'm super impressed with how you are continually doing this for yourself. It is PROOF that you are making headway my friend 🙂

Re: Am Not Coping

Thanks @Faith-and-Hope @MDT I am actually quite anxious about it and that will probably grow over the week ...but I am trying and that is important. I haven't been out with a group of people for a long time. I didn't go to the dinners at my old school because I couldn't put up with the noise or the bitchiness that often happened so hoping this is a little different. There is a small group so far going so it might be okay - the larger the group the easier it is to get 'lost' among others though and that I like - I think this group going may be a little more outgoing than I am so we will just wait and see what happens.

You are right Hon .... the important thing is the processing you are going through, and considering where you were a year ago, that is awesome ❣️ Whether you actually go or not, you can decide right up until the last minute. You can simply say that you found yourself too exhausted if you do decide not to go, and emotional exhaustion counts too.

Hopefully you can gently relax into the idea, and everything will be okay.

💚💐

@Zoe7 smaller is better I think too

Workplace politics is boring. Hence the bitchiness

Re: Am Not Coping

Hi @Zoe7 Thanks for your supportive comments. Is the nausea related to headaches or med sideffects or fatigue? Maybe explain the pattern day & night of symptoms to your GP. Is there just one colleague going to the event on a Friday night that you could focus on building a closer relationship perhaps? It’s so impressive that you’re doing things out of your comfort zone & DBT tomorrow will be a good reminder of strategies that help with anxiety ie to remain mindful & aware that pleasant & unpleasant sensations & thoughts can co-exist. I’m thinking lots of cuddles with your Toby before you leave might help too! I guess going with or meeting up with someone beforehand would limit when you can leave or perhaps you could go under your own steam but meet a staff member nearby before entering the group.

Re: Am Not Coping

I think that most of the people going like to 'party' a little @Faith-and-Hope and that is not me but if I can just make it to dinner then that really will be huge for me. I know I can do it but I think I would have felt a little more easy about it if there had been more people going that I have spent a lttle more time with. I can only try and if it is too much - as you said - I can excuse myself early.

I am looking forward to having tomorrow off work and only have DBT and GP so it won;t be a really long day. GP isn't until the afternoon but I can take my time getting organised in the morning also so that should make it an easier day.

Do you have classes tomorrow? I haven't stayed up on when your day off is this year
