Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

Zoe7

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

Re: Am Not Coping

Well done on 4 applications as that’s hard work (perhaps a sticker chart with a star for every application sent!?! ...but you clearly don’t need - well done @MDT). The new job is actually at the same facility (after the induction week which is elsewhere) - it’s with the company that won the contract over my current employer. Yes thanks I will nudge him to comply with his obligations. Now I must find a recipe for dinner (after I message @Zoe7 !)

Hey @Zoe7 I reckon you’re doing it tough at the moment so it’s goid to know you’re taking it a bit easy on yourself this evening. I’m so sorry that in the last couple of years you’ve had physical & mental health challenges not to mention debilitating fatigue. If you want to talk about work placement is it worth trying an early email prior to pdoc appt asking for an update & adding you’ll talk by phone later in the day?

@BryanaCamp hello! How’s your day been?

Re: Am Not Coping

Pdoc isn't until Wednesday @Sam3 so will have rung to find out what is going on before that. I have psychologist tomorrow morningand a lot I need to talk to her about aside from the work stuff. It would have been nice to give her some news about what is happening with work but that will have to wait until the next appointment in a couple of weeks.

There has been a lot I have been through in the last couple of years but being both physically and mentally unwell at the same time have certainly fed off each other and made it very hard to get through. There have been some extremely down times so even the fact I went back to work at the end of last year and now preparing to go back again now is a major achievement. I have done a lot of very hard work to get to this point though and that is something I am very proud of. There have been numerous med changes and some extremely hard sessions with psych and pdoc but I am getting there. I think it shows that if I can do it from where I have come from then there is hope for us all. There were certainly times when I didn't think I would get through the day but I have somehow and here I am - going back to work and looking forward - even if it is still hard on some days.

You set an inspiring example @Zoe7 & I hope you continue to enjoy your hard-won accomplishments (especially if you ever doubt yourself)

Re: Am Not Coping

There is still so much doubt @Sam3 but I am also learning to deal with that better as well. Some days like today are ones to just get through and that has been something I have learnt as well. Not every day is sunshine and roses - some are super tough but one of my favourite sayings (and that of one of our forum friends here @Faith-and-Hope) is "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass; it's about learning to dance in the rain” - that is something I am definitely learning to live by

Re: Am Not Coping

Yeah you have been along for the ride on so much of my journey too @MDT so you know some of where I am coming from and how hard it has been. It is actually people like you though buddy that inspire me every day - you are doing so well yourself and have come so far The power of the community here is immense - we ride the highs and the lows with each other and together we inspire, encourage and support one and other to get through each day.

Re: Am Not Coping

As a former academic @MDT I love your artful use of a quotation! @Zoe7 I sensed your day has been not great, but good on you for “dancing in the rain” today.
