Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

Zoe7

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

Re: Am Not Coping

@Sam3 the rain was up north with our @Shaz51 We need rain here though to help put out the fires - many are still burning out of control in the centre of Tassie and further down south. I think we are expecting some rain to come through Thursday or Friday so very much hoping that comes.

@BryanaCamp I am doing much better since starting this thread - many ups and downs along the way but have been back to work for a few days at the end of last year and waiting to go back in another week again. I am a teacher but do enjoy building things and general renovtions on my house.

This has always been a thread that welcomes everyone because at some point a lot of us are not coping with daily life and our mental illness - so welcome to the thread nd hope to hear more from you and learn more about you in the future

Whoa high five, @TAB !!!! So have you walked today too? I went for a shaded rainforest walk with a close friend (from uni days). Do you have friends who you catch up with face-to-face? I’m smiling about that Scottish scotch story!

Hey @MDT hope you’re fine? Any more “small steps”? News here is that it’s “back to school” tomorrow for 3 of my 4 kids! Tomorrow is 3rd last day of work for boss who STILL has not notified me in writing that my employment is terminated due to redundancy (legally obligated to give 4 weeks notice & I work or am paid that month of salary according to Award & Fair Work Commission). On principle & because he’s well-known as a Scrooge, I think I’ll send him a firm but polite email tomorrow morning. It’s also awkward as I was told to expect letter of offer from new employer tomorrow & start date might be delayed due to old employer.

Hi @eth Thanks for sharing your story. I can’t imagine how challenging it must have been for you at times raising a child with a disability as a single parent plus dealing with your own health conditions. I get heaps of support from close friends & an easygoing husband & the kids are pretty straightforward, but I certainly find it hard at times when I’m unwell (& even when not acutely unwell, I get hooked into unhelpful negative thoughts that impair my functioning). Good on you for finding massage work that fitted your circumstances. It’s also great that you pursued help until you got the right diagnosis & support. Are things any easier for you now? Are you still the full-time carer of your child?

Thanks for the updates @TAB @Zoe7 Yes some water in Tasmania would be ideal! How’s your day been @Zoe7. My munchkin is on Prodigy right now thanks to you (we selected Australian grade 3 after his angst with grade 4 questions yesterday, but even grade 3 seems advanced to me - have others thought that? He’s remaining motivated & achieving correct answers so that’s good). I really hope you’re notified tomorrow or Wednesday about your class & school. Leaving it to the last minute even though multiple factors are involved seems exactly what NOT to do for anyone that’ll own someone who has health concerns (?assuming it may have been a mental health workcover claim). Anyway all the very best in coming days @Zoe7

I’m wondering how entertaining is going for @Shaz51 or was it @Former-Member ... sorry my memory is hopeless 😩

Re: Am Not Coping

I do find the questions on Prodigy are advanced @Sam3 but just as your munchkin seems to be doing it is engaging for kids.

My time off work was not work cover - it started with me have 2 strains of the flu and then post viral fatigue. The depression soon set in and progressively got worse. I couldn't function at all - HR does know of my mental health issues and the help I have been getting over the last couple of years but there is no formal return to work under work cover in place. I hope I hear something tomorrow - think I will ring tomorrow afternoon if I don't - it is getting way too close for me to get organised. I have my psych appointment in the morning so can't ring early - was hoping to hear something before that appointment. I have plenty I need to talk about apart from work but the not knowing is definitely starting to stress me.

I have been sleeping much of today - there are multiple things playing on my mind today - work being one of them. Just getting through the day - given up on doing any form of work around the home - going to settle in for hopefully an early night now. No sport on tonight so nothing to stay up later for.

Evening to you @Sam3
I am not bad thanks. Applied for about 4 things today. Just general stuff, not related to my degree but just based on my experience. Found a cool site that links me to jobs with start ups.
So yes. Small Steps indeed.

I think giving your old boss a bit of a nudge would be a good idea. No harm done I think.

Whats your new job tomorrow? Teaching?
