Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

I'm using cement sheeting as it is protected from the elements @Former-Member but I need to build the framing first to attach it to. I need to grind off some bolts and cut a small piece of concrete first today to put up the next support beam - a fair bit still to do but it is getting there. I also feel like going back to sleep this morning so might have a nap before I get myself mobile to get started again today.

Thanks @Sans911 - a bit to do today and the temperture is supposed to be much less today so should be able to smash it out easier without having to have so many breaks. It is cooler in the garage in the morning before the sun mves around and makes it feel more like a hot house than a garage. How are you feeling today - still tired or a little more energy?

Re: Am Not Coping

I'm feeling a little better thanks @Zoe7 but I'm not going to do too much this morning. I've got my volunteer shift of 4hours at the op shop later today & that's usually busy so I'll try to conserve some energy.

More than likely I'll just potter around this morning doing some smaller tasks. I have someone coming to collect a wardrobe, so that'll be another thing gone and money to feed the cats and me.

Re: Am Not Coping

You are getting it all done by degrees @Sans911 and that is a good thing. Sometimes pacing ourselves is what is needed and it seems that you need to do that today until your volunteering shift. I know that you like to make yorself useful so the shift will be full on for you but only 4 hours will go pretty quickly - especially if you are busy. I love that you are doing the volunteering work and get so much out of it

Re: Am Not Coping

@Sans911 & @Zoe7 you guys are really inspiring! @Sans911 I also think it’s great you do volunteering. Any developments re the 8 hours shift possibility or are you not ready/not given opportunity for that at this point? As you may be aware, I may be unemployed soon & the biggest concern other than finances is my mental health. From phone calls I’ve made in last few days I should be able to get a similar job but with a 30-40 minute commute & more demands (eg. Comprehensive functional assessments & negotiating funding levels). The thought of it is somewhat stressful & tiring, but I suppose I’ll be ok. Job I applied for yesterday would be much more stressful & exhausting (but much more my skilllset) but I doubt I’d be shortlisted for interview anyway. Does anyone find that even without a physical health condition that they don’t have enough energy? Really neglecting housework & kids at present but it only makes things worse to feel bad about it.

Re: Am Not Coping

Morning @Sam3

That's what @Zoe7 & I were discussing--the level of tiredness with a mental illness. Mine is possibly medication related but I'm not sure. It's important as Zoe was also saying (and I agree) not too be too hard on yourself. I tackle things in smaller chunks now, have a rest for a while, then go back to it. And then there are days like yesterday where it was pretty much a complete right off. I spent much of the day in bed, wanting to cry (a problem I have is wanting to cry but not being able to) as the sheer frustration of it all.

I'm allowed to go back to work for up to 8hours a week, but I'm still waiting on my employer to complete paperwork & see what other requirements they want from me.

That's partly why I do 4hours at the op shop. So I can see if it's manageable. And it is, just. When I work, I work hard, paid or unpaid. So I don't sit around drinking tea. I honestly think at this time an 8hour shift would be too much. I mostly get 4 or 6hour shifts, and I could manage that.
