Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

Re: Am Not Coping

I know .... and @oceangirl is right .... your dr and therapist are walking with you irl .... will you call them tomorrow ?

What you are feeling now will pass .... just step up whatever self-care you can and take the baby steps, moment by moment ....

Remember deep slow breathing .... it really helps to calm the physical reactions for your body to the anxiety and stop that spiralling .... deep slow breathing is an anti-spiralling aid if you like ....

Others are -

Making a cup of tea .... herbals like chamomile are good because they contain natural relaxation properties.

Lavender anything .... soap .... a few drops of oil on a tissue .... air freshener ... Lavender perfume .... it is a known relaxant.

Soft, gentle background music.

Looking at beautiful artwork .... It has the same effect as deep breathing only its through your eyes.

Pets .... this one should be at the top of your list. Go to Everything Cats ! thread and browse through their antics ....

Laughter .... this one is a very strong anti-spiralling agent, but when you are feeling so down it can be hard to access .... that's where googling something like funny cats can be good for you, even if they barely raise a smile ... it's still having an effect on your inner world.

Breathe ....

❤️

Hi Sis @Zoe7

Re: Am Not Coping

Hi @Zoe7

I'm really sorry you are suffering so much right now. Thanks for your reassurance that your current state wasnt all to do with me, but of course I was instrumental in making it worse. So I'm so sorry.

As for distractions and options to try to help with the extreme anxiety - I agree with all that @Faith-and-Hope has advised. When I get like that I turn to my dog Holly. She really is such a comfort to me, always knows when I am not feeling good, and is right by my side. She's actually sitting here on my lap right now helping to keep me calm. You have your cat. And their antics can be soo funny! Did you know that laughter and anxiety come from the same place, and you cant actually 'do' both at the same time? Interesting aye? So yeah, laugh ... if you possibly can. It really does take away the anxiety, even if its only temporary it all helps.

I also do crosswords and love my sudoku puzzles! I've recently turned my hand to do some art as well, totally new to me. I have always been a sporty person, rather than arts and crafts. But I really find that sketching (stage 1 of art) really gets me engrossed - a very good distraction.

And sport as well. I love most sports, having played a lot when I was much younger. Now I just watch. For example yesterday I watch the Test Cricket from India between Australia and India. I love cricket and found this to be a great distraction.

Mind you, none of this seems to help that much when it comes to sleep however. I cant recall the last time I got anything remotely like a decent sleep! I really would be happy with just a couple of hours, but alas, that hasnt been the case for some time. Nightmares get me every time, despite being on some anti-nightmare meds. They do help a bit thankfully, but not as much as I like.

Hey thanks @Faith-and-Hope and @Former-Member for the chocolate cake. If all else fails - go the chocolate I say!

Thanks everyone, and I hope all you WA folk are now soundly into a calm and restful sleep. Around 3am over there. Sadly about the time I am usually wide awake. Thats when I try to do calm breathing exercises and practice some mindfulness. Not great at the mindfulness yet, but I am persisting with it, as I know it helps a lot of people.

Hi also to @oceangirl and @utopia. Have a good day everyone.

Kind thought to you all.

Morning all. I thought the crying had stopped until I went through the posts for the last couple of days!!!!

So much support, so many caring people and feeling very loved

What a wonderful community we have here - people from all walks of life, with individual 'struggles' sharing their joys and sadness - and all rising together as one to be there for each other - a truly amazing community to be a part of

@Former-Member You really have absolutely nothing to be sorry about xxx

As I said previously, I was on the edge anyway and there were a few other triggers that sent me over. Reading parts of your 'story' I felt like I was reading my own words - and that was already on my mind from my session a couple of days before - and that actually allowed me to feel like someone really did understand - that is why I wanted to let you know I would reply to your post when I was more able to. I will revisit your post (on the other thread) and reply more fully - I think you are incredibly brave, courageous and strong for being able to share such a painful experience with us all - I feel truly honoured to I have had the opportunity to get to know 'some of you' and hope to get to know you a little more over time. Thankyou for openning your heart to us all
