Am Not Coping

Am Not Coping

I am really not coping at the moment but this is entirely on ME!

This is a message for a few people on here @utopia @Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member

that I asked could be passed on but it seems that only part of it has been and I understand from the responses that have made it through my emails that I have caused untold distress for some people. I was not going to return because of what I felt I put people through but I especially wanted @utopia and @Former-Member to know that they were not wrong at the time and I was going through a real crisis period. You both held me together for longer than I could myself until the point where my own self-destructive thoughts overwhelmed me.

The entire message that I sent to SANE is below:

I have just viewed the multitude of emails and messages sent from forum members and members of the SANE team – as well as the text and voice message left on my phone.

I have not been able to communicate with anyone since the other night as I have been recovering from what ended up being an unsuccessful attempt to end the pain.

At the time I was in a very distressed state and I did want to stop the pain and all I seemed to achieve is to cause others pain and worry and that is the last thing I wanted to do – I just wanted to end mine and say goodbye to everyone beforehand so my future absence was explained. I should have realised that the message I posted would have concerned some people but I really was not in any state to think about the repercussions for others.

I am so sorry I caused so much distress to others – that is something I will have to hopefully try and live with.

I don’t believe after the concern and anxiety I caused to so many that I will ever be able to return to the forum.

Can someone from the SANE team please explain all this to all those involved and pass on my gratitude for their compassion, concerns and kind words throughout the time I have been part of the ‘forum family’.

Thank you and sorry again for the difficult position I put everyone in.

Zoe7

I do not want any responses from any of you. I just wanted to let you know exactly what has happened and let you know how truly sorry I am for hurting people I have come to think of as friends and family, and who I really care about.

Your support, advice and compassion are what make you all the wonderful people you are.

@utopia and @Former-Member I am so sorry that the trust you placed in me has now been broken because of my actions. I also felt that we had a stronger connection, especially over the last week, and you both helped me in ways I cannot even describe or explain. I was not pulling away from you two - just wanted to pull away from myself. I couldn't cope with my own feelings and no-one or nothing was actually going to be able to stop me at the time. It's now just another failure to add to my list of failures. I really don't know what else to say to you both but to reiterate my heartfelt 'sorry'.

Maybe when the world isn't quite so dark @Zoe7 you might do some volunteering with kids somewhere in the capacity of just being with kids without all the documentation a triplet everything in teaching.

Or .... you could do what my D3 did when her self-confidence hadn't recovered by mid primary school and she had to give an oral presentation ..... she built a puppet out of papier-mâché and the puppet "gave her talk for her" .....

And then there are some beautiful masquerade masks available .... the whole class could come in masquerade to give their talks .... just tick the tutor's roll so they know who everybody is .....

😊💕

Big hugs @Former-Member ..... on mobile at the mo, and making dinner, but I'm gonna come and find you later ....

Re: Am Not Coping

Always wanted to have my own 'school' @Former-Member Only for the kids that don't fit into the so-called 'mainstream' education system. I've always been a bit 'different' and it just doesn't seem the right fit for me anymore.

Re: Am Not Coping

I was lucky enough to see an alternative school years ago @Zoe7. It was awesome. My S3 didn't suit mainstream schooling at all....and neither did S4 really. I just saw an article on how much we are failing kids because we don't let them move much at school and the effects it's having and many kids don't move after school either creating a generation with poor core strength amongst other things.

This school had a three story high tree house in a heritage tree that you climbed by ladder. It was very magic faraway tree like. The school is closed down now but they had fabulous child centred programs @Zoe7

Re: Am Not Coping

I agree @Former-Member I hate having the kids sitting at desks - especially in rows arrghh!!!

I have work stations set up around the room that they have to move to regularly. Except for the morning sessions - which are the same school wide - the rest of the day is doing hands on work. They get to chose how they are going to learn and how they are going to present their work. It is amazing to see the enthusiasm of the kids when they take ownership over their own learning.

I remember a couple of years ago some of the kids didn't think they had learnt much because they weren't writing at desks all the time. Then I got all their work together and asked them what they had done all week. They couldn't believe how much they had done - and learnt - without doing hundreds of worksheets (that's a 4 letter word in my class lol).

Re: Am Not Coping

Sounds great @Zoe7. I hate hearing from so many teachers that they feel like teaching is not about the kids anymore. There is so much to do that takes time away from being with kids and exploring things in the moment....unprogrammed but important learning.

Re: Am Not Coping

That is the problem with the education system now - there is too much expected that DOES take you away from the kids. You can't have child-centred learning if you AREN'T with the children- stupid bureaucracy and checks and balances. So much of what we are supposed to do in the classroom is to fill in forms and provide data! Learning should be fun - that's how we keep them focussed and engaged.
