Something’s not right

What to do when there is nothing left to do.

What to do when there is nothing left to do.

I have tried everything I can to try and make things work but nothing is working and I have a very low quality of life and everything just keeps getting worse and idk what to do anymore there is nothing left to do my psychologist doesn’t know what to do my psychiatrist doesn’t know what to do my GP doesn’t know what to do nothing is helping and I am so exhausted from trying so hard to get nothing back I am constantly in physical and emotional pain and this is no way to live. But there is nothing else anyone or myself can do I feel like I want to give up but idk if that would work either. I am completely lost.

Hey @Eden1919

It sounds like things are really tough at the moment. I can hear your exhaustion, feeling like nothing is working after putting in so much effort, and the uncertainty about when things will get better.

I have sent you an email just checking in.

Hugs @Eden1919 yes you always make every effort and somehow you keep going.

A couple of weeks ago there was a news item about a new and very different drug - actually a combination of drugs - that could be a game changer for schizophrenia so maybe schizoaffective disorder too. Apparently about 1 in 3 people aren't really helped by current medications, which is a lot. The only thing was that the clinical trials weren't very long - not long enough to pick up longterm problems and side effects IMHO.

Being awake all night and sleeping in the day could be a bit isolating. My sleep cycle is delayed but I try to get outside for a walk during the day.

Best wishes for your exams etc.

@Dimity the drug hasnt been approved in australia and who knows if it will be or not plus knowing my luck i would just get all the side effects.

i am so exhausted and everything keeps getting worse i dont know what to do anymore i am so over everything and i just cant manage anything i cant keep up and everything is too much and no one seems to understand how bad things are i told the psychiatrist that i was suicidal everyday and he didnt seem to think it was a problem so i guess i must just be being dramatic or something but it doesnt matter idk how much longer i will be around for anyway and then i will be out of everyones way. i am safe for tonight though.

Hi @Eden1919 thank you for letting us know that you were safe last night, but I'm hearing how serious your thoughts are at the moment and how hard things are feeling. Expressing these thoughts and feelings is not being dramatic, I'm really disappointed to hear of your psychiatrist's response, or lack of response. Have you spoken to others about these frequent suicidal thoughts?

I know that you said that you were safe last night, but if you are currently not feeling that you are safe please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14, or Suicide Call Back Service on 1300 659467. If it is an emergency please call 000

I don't think you're just being dramatic @Eden1919 as I've known from personal experience something similar to what you've described going through but for shorter times - months in the first instance, then weeks or days. But there were meds that made a difference for me. What are you not keeping up with? I'm guessing the coursework has probably finished for the year so it's probably other stuff - could you make a list? Then forum folk might share ideas for coping or maybe you could see what your support workers can help with? There's stuff I haven't been coping with either.

To me you do matter, I want to see you around on the forums, you're not in anyone's way and I really really hope you get a break soon.

Have you done any artwork lately? One thing I miss is having a creative outlet. And I still have heaps of notes from the uni work I discontinued a long time ago. Maybe I'll get back to them, I don't know.

Take care @Eden1919 I'm glad you're safe for now.

Hello @Eden1919 .

Yes you've been trying for months. In the meantime it seems your care manager and psychiatrist have been missing in action. You have every right to be angry. And you're absolutely welcome to let off steam in this forum and be heard and validated.

Have you written or emailed? I think it would be reasonable to give them feedback, and in text you have the chance to say what you need to without being interrupted or shut down, and without being disadvantaged by feeling unequal/shy/inarticulate as many of us do. I realise you wouldn't have much autonomy or control under a CTO to find other providers so it's even more important to try to get through to them. I've been fobbed off by my vet for months so I finally emailed the practice, and got tests and treatment for my cat. A while back I gave feedback to a gp who'd dismissed a problem that ended up needing several hospital visits, and is likely to need surgery. And I terminated a psychologist who'd accused me of habitual lying - she later tried to justify herself by saying it might remind me of childhood trauma - which it did but not in the way she'd hoped, as I was incapable of responding at the time but was a wreck afterwards. What I'm trying to say is that you deserve to be heard you should be heard, if any communication channels at all are open to you you should try to use them even if you have to google them.

I apologise for my rant @Eden1919 but I feel very strongly that your despair should be channelled outwards towards the team who should have a duty of care and not directed inwards at yourself. You've been through so much in the maybe 2 or 3 years I've known you and I'm happy to keep supporting you on these forums for as long as it takes - in other words, indefinitely.

Take care. You don't seem to visit the forums often but I want you to know there are people who care about you.

Dimity
