Listening to triggering music

Why do I keep doing this to myself?

@Jynx I think it would be tricky unless you have the bond.

I think navigating sexual touch for the first time is hard even outside of a marriage. I don’t really mind waiting, I think the trauma side increases anxiety to ever go into an intimate relationship.

I don’t know, I find it very hard to come across emotionally mature guys whom I can be vulnerable with. Maybe it’s a me thing, but it is very hard to feel comfortable

@creative_writer yeah for sure, I can imagine that anyone you were to be that open with would need to be someone who is capable of holding the space if you end up triggered. And by that I just mean like, not take it personally, not make it about them, and just be there for you kinda thing, not necessarily that they'd have to know therapeutically what to do (if that makes sense).

And yeah, I think it's rare to find folks, men especially, with that kind of emotional maturity. Not their fault when the overarching social narrative dictates men be largely emotionless. But it does make it tricky.

I should probably say my goodnights!! I am sending you some very healing vibes, hoping your sickness gets goneski soon!! Chat tomorrow mayhaps 💜

@Jynx it’s key to find someone who is willing to hold that space if I do get triggered. Those folks are indeed rare, especially men. As you say, it’s not their fault. I think society is the reason why women tend to dominate therapy related work.

I hope you have a restful evening 💖

@tyme so now I’m likely to attend an event in 10 days time, and I’ll be alone and I won’t know anyone

I’m terrified of going, I feel too gross and disgusting

Re: Listening to triggering music

Oh @creative_writer , isn't it better you are going alone? That's what I think anyway. Only because I can just disappear and no one will know...

Is this a social event, uni event?

Re: Listening to triggering music

@tyme no it’s not an uni event, it’s another event, I can’t give too many details as it’s an advertised event. I’m not even sure I’m worthy. I didn’t save myself

I don't want you to feel invalidated, but in a way, I feel that a lot of us feel unworthy sometimes @creative_writer .

If it IS bringing you that much stress, would you consider not going?
