Family separation

Family separation

Hi it's been a tough fathers day for me second year without hearing from my adult kids after the nasty marriage breakdown and divorce involving domestic violence against me by my ex wife. I am very down because l care and think about my kids every day and l have a granddaughter that l haven't seen for 2 years also. I feel my ex wife is controlling the kids having turned them against.me .I worry about my granddaughter growing up without her grandfather because my daughter is too selfish to allow her to see me. I have never hurt anyone but l feel like l am.such a bad dad and l hate to think what crap my granddaughter is being told.It takes away meaning to my life. I doubt the situation will ever improve. Why why do people still hurt me???

Re: Sad

Do you get sore wrists from knitting @Leeanne1 ?

Also, do you get your yarn from a special place? Or just whereever. I never realised yarn was so expensive until my older sister asked me to choose what I wanted.

She knits me these awesome double sided beanies that are so warm in winter.

Re: Sad

I look forward to seeing photos of your finished blanket? Do you make cot sizes or big beds? @Leeanne1

Enjoy the rest of your night if I don't 'see' you again tonight. I don't want to disturb your knitting!

Re: Sad

Hi @tyme
I am still battling away the housing situation has settled as I have found a good housemate a nursing student from Indonesia and he is very clean polite and pays bills on time. My mental health is still a mess main issue is inability to find any type of employment and I still have little socal contact with others I feel like such a failure without work .

Re: Sad

So so glad to hear from you @john74 . It's been a while but we haven't forgotten you.

Thanks for the little update. Sorry you still haven't been able to find employment. Have you had any interviews? I wonder if it's the application itself or the interview process that's the challenge - or both?

What field are you interested in?

I can totally hear how not having employment can take its toll. You are not alone.

Re: Sad

Hi @tyme Unfortunately I dont even get a response from applications despite having an agency assist with cover letters resumes etc I am not required to look for work because I am on a DSP for the permanent mental health issues I suffer not physically but I voluntarily registered hoping they could assist with re training etc but unfortunately to no avail. I have a wide range of skills form farming, mechanical repairs and rail industry including previously a train driver. so I am and have been trying in all of those areas. To me after what I have been through such as leaving a long DV marriage loosing contact with my kids the sudden death of my father and moving to the town I grew up in etc have some sort of work would be life changing for me . I am happy where I live a regional Victorian town its a happy place for me .

Re: Sad

That's a lot @john74 .

I wonder if it's not so much that you don't have the skills, but being in a regional areas lowers your opporunities altogether?

Of course it depends on where you are. Can you go into certain places and offer to volunteer or help out?
