chinese whispers

Hello all,

@Faith-and-Hope @Shaz51 @Janie @Former-Member @Decadian

Hi, I'm in a bit of a problems...me and my husband work very hard to be together. We have certain problems with our conditions and we do as much as we can do to do the good living. We live in a group of Public Housing units which are goodl and in a very nice area. For all the blocks of units around here, we are living in the 'best,' ones, there are no real problems here.

But lately, a 60 year old man down the units has been spreading roumors about me which are not true. He is a stirrer and a ....person who uses copious amount s of illegal substances. I got really angry at him when he took advantage of me and 'borrowed,' all my money from him and it's like he's sole job to do in life is to get me a really bad name. He is spreading these wrong rumours about me ..... do I ignore them, do I put up with the nastiness..what do I do?

Re: chinese whispers

the church don't know him.

The thing @Former-Member that gets to me is the people living around me are so passive. They hear this stupid talk from him and straight away believe him. They all know what I'm like but choose to believe him because we live in this paternalistic society, he talks to thim, Im not exciting.

Thank you. You write sense

Thank you

Re: chinese whispers

@PeppiPatty. There are many people in this world who are apathetic and choose to believe what is easiest to believe. Especially when such lies are delivered by such a strong character.

Re: chinese whispers

who wrote about church elders....I'lle speak to them tomoorow @Former-Member what a great idea.

THAnk you. I cannot do without these very good words of wisdom. The thing that gets me is that there are elderly women who PAY him to get thier homes clean and think that his problems are real and give him more money.

I used to think that I was a stong bar like a lamp post but .....not anymore. @utopia theres something about your messages these days I really really connect to.

How is your life?

Thank you everyone for your kind advice and words.

He has been spreading around that I have been asking him to go to bed with him

and I am crushed because this is the theme of how he gets help from women

around where I live so the women and men believe him and are passive in their responses.

and I wouldnt ever cheat on my beautiful husband.

These neighbours tell me in the past how it would be so difficult to be involved with my husband. It isnt, it's society that has put this sign on people who suffer times of mental ill health

and it's UNFAIR.

your continual beautiful meesages are keeping me going. I just read again and again.....

Thank you

Re: chinese whispers

@PeppiPatty. What an awful thing to say about you. No wonder you are furious.
I only know you through this forum & yet I know you would never think about cheating on your husband. I know he is the love of your life. I know that you love the quiet life that you and your husband have. And I know that you are not the sort of person who would ever judge a person because they are unwell - MI or not.
I know all this. I'm sure your community knows this. Especially those who are closest to you. Your church & friends.
This man is simply sick / evil to say these words. And people don't want to speak up to him. Others love gossip.
Try and ignore them. Your husband knows you love him. I know you love him. And your God knows you love him. I hope you take relief in the knowledge that your god knows you.
As hurtful and disgusting as these words are - they are simply - only words.
They hold no more power than you allow them. These words cannot change who you are. A beautiful, loving wife and friend.

Re: chinese whispers

hello @PeppiPatty @utopia

They believe him because he manipulates, that is what bullies do they are clever and hide all traces.

your neighbours are passive, they are probably afraid that he will start on them.

Who do you compare yourself with when you say you are not exciting? I think that you are a very interesting person with compassion.

I still feel that talking to someone you trust as in a minister if you still attend church is safe and will help you vent.

Please take steps to look after yourself and your husband and not let this man ruin your life in the neighbourhood. You are far more deserving to be there than him.

Re: chinese whispers

hello @PeppiPatty @utopia

Oh my I didnt realise that it was this bad for you. Bullies have to control and when this control is threatened they act out and gather as many people to their side as they can to prop themselves up. They are weak without others.

This man is evil and I think probably jealous of the wonderful loving relationship you and your husband have.

As Utopia has said we have not personally met you but read between the lines of your writings how strong the bond of love is between yourself and your husband. I truly feel this Peppi and feel that your husband feels so strongly about you. You have a beautiful gift to be able to share that with someone who has a mental illness. Relationships with people who have mental illness are very hard work. I know, I struggle and so does my husband.

These neighbours who speak of your husband's illness might just not understand or be able to know what to say to you. I dont think they mean you any harm.

You and your husband have worked out what works for you both and this man does not like that.

Please speak to the police and let them know that you feel unsafe. They wont be able to do anything but you can ask them if they can just make a note of how he has treated you and your concerns. They might even patrol the area and that might be enough to put the wind up this nasty man. I think that the police should know also about these elderly ladies who are paying this man. they are vulnerable also.

Still speak to the church elders and let them know everything that has occurred and been said. Let the church know also about these vulnerable elderly ladies and any others he is manipulating who you know of.

Above everything remember that you have each other and your faith.

we are here for you Peppi xxxxx

Re: chinese whispers

dear @Former-Member @utopia @Shaz51 @Decadian @Former-Member

You are all not going to believe this.... Taking all into consideration like

1. It can be very difficult living in Public housing......

The man took more money from an older lady and dissappeared and she is realising that he isn't to be trusted so asked me over to clean her home. She hummed and haaed and we had a talk about him.

He was treating someone else who lives here badly and she ended up in A Psychiatric hospital for two weeks ...I am absolutely shocked.

I cleaned the older lady's home which was full of spiders and grime and I invited her over for a yummy lunch tomorrow.

Last Sunday, I took @Former-Member s advice and spoke to a Church leader. It was great great. We talked about what was the most important and this wasnt one of them. She gave me a lot of strength.

I feel much stronger. I do not think that these silly people living around me can change their way of thinking but I can.

The older lady constantly spoke of the person that she was giving money to and who speading the rumours about me but I think that she is maybe seeing that these lies about me might be hogwash ...if she doesnt....Im starting not to care anymore.

But I think that what I need to remember that these problems grow in my head. My husband isnt going through a good time but even as I say that:

He works very hard at keeping me good. I think I get sensetive and I need your positivity. It's so sad that I know women/, men who get as exhausted as me and don't know about the joy of dialoging about it.......

Thank you everyone .......

Re: chinese whispers

@PeppiPatty. I'm sorry to hear that he has affected other people as well. He really is a nasty bully.
But wow - you showed exactly who you are. You helped this lady. And I'm not talking about cleaning her unit. I'm talking about - you talked - you listened - you shared experiences with her - & then you invited her to lunch.
You just showed her your true essence. Simply by being you.
You are a beautiful woman.
