Welcome and getting started

Mental health

Mental health

Hi I’m new here and I’m lost on this site trying to find my way around. I have bipolar depression and PTSD. and have been having trouble coping with no support services around to see face to face. They all have long waiting lists which is not their fault it’s just that there are so many more people needing help and not as many workers to see people. They also do not get as much funding anymore. It also makes it harder as we live in rural areas. But I’m overwhelmed at the moment

Welcome to the Forums @Serenity4

Good on you for reaching out. I hope you find this a supportive place.

Sounds like it's been a tough time. And you're by no means the only person to find that support services can be a bit of a maze.

The the link below might help....

https://www.headtohealth.gov.au/

Also feel free to reach out to the SANE Support Line 10am to 10pm eastern time on 1800 187 263

All the best yeah

Re: Mental health

Hello @Serenity4 and welcome. I'm diagnosed bipolar but have been depressed and anxious for a very long time... and am facing likely cptsd. I'm sorry to hear you're overwhelmed - would you like to talk about it? Sometimes naming our worries is a first step to dealing with them.

This site has some hidden gems like "Our coping toolkit" which I tried to link for you but it didn't work... perhaps someone else can link it for us.

Re: Mental health

Hey @Serenity4 lovely to have you join our forums, welcome! 😊

I can see how living in a rural place and having long waiting lists can make accessing support difficult, so glad that you've been able to reach out to us here! The forums is a great place to connect and learn from others, there's some great resources and posts relating to bipolar, depression and PTSD that you can check out by searching those key terms in the search bar.

Also, feel free to introduce yourself to our community here. There are social spaces on these forums for you to connect with others who are on similar journeys, feel free to check out this space too. The self-care tool kit posted above would be a wonderful resource for learning new ways to manage those overwhelming feelings as well.

In addition to the great resources suggested by members so far, I just wanted to add a few more to the list:

You're not alone here, we're here for you 💗

Re: Mental health

Welcome @Serenity4, it's nice to meet you 🤗

This site can be a little confusing to start with and I still struggle to navigate it sometimes!

I also have bipolar so I'll tag you over on our bipolar support and discussion thread too.

I hope you find some of these resources and our community helpful 💜

@Serenity4

Hi Serenity, I’m new too and also finding this site very difficult so I know how you feel. I am too stressed sometimes to persevere with it, but without knowing why or how it is slowly becoming a bit clearer. So all I can suggest is that you keep trying to work it out.

What technology can do is amazing, but in this case it’s all frustration. I have no idea how these things are done, but surely there must be easier ways 🙏.

Don’t give up Serenity4 💕- that’s what I say to myself about a lot of things.
