Glass Child?

Glass Child?

I was close one of my siblings but maybe like a lot of things in my life I misread that, I grew up with that sibling because they other had moved out, for the first 5 years of life dad was in prison, mum drank and parental care was the older siblings and two alcoholic best friends.

Dad comes back from prison things come into order I'm born.

Primary school I'm bullied by my sibling who lives with me they have undiagnosed ADHD.

I suffer trauma I stay silent because the information directly impacted my sibling.

Teen years for my sibling, sneaking out, risking behaviour, running away from home.

I was choked, pushed, tackled and cleaned up messes they made when they ran from home, I made promises to my parents to not do things like this when I got to teen years and I tried to be silent be good.

After I was 10 we moved two states over so my siblings risky behaviour could be disrupted.

My preteen years I started showing PTSD symptoms day long anxiety attacks Epilepsy was also diagnosed I started to no longer be able to be glass I was no longer invisible I had to go to doctors and therapy, the sibling tried devalue this.

My teen years sibling would blame, fight and I would to yeah but escalation was weird one twice incontinence in my bedroom.

Mocking my therapy continued as family lifted them through financial startup from a job requirement.

When it came to my schooling after highschool nothing was offered, just a depiction of overseas despite me clearly being unintrested.

I have been working on getting an autism diagnosis for myself, and I thought for a while that was what prevented me connecting with my sibling but I've connected with a lot of people and even sustained a long term relationship with someone with ADHD/autism. I don't think having Autism helped me connect with my sibling who I believe might have RAD Reactive Attachment Disorder we both fit the criteria very well but I'm gonna talk to my psychologist and neuropsychiatrist I wish I could talk to them about this I wish we could work this out together we were only just children but I know in order for both of us to heal we need distance.

@MJG017There is definitely something to be said about the difficulty of things like emotional regulation, thought changing, recognising emotions ect after teen years without some form of therapy tools.

@PeppyPatti

My daily needs are loose because I've found I've had to keep them that way because of mental health or physical health demands are changing needs.

At the moment I am able to study, volunteer and socialise with my community (not an everyday thing) those things help me thrive, my family does not, it's not even a survival situation.

When I'm sick at bare minimum I need medication, I might not even have enough energy to make my own food; that's survival for me.

I think if that works for you that's great, some people work well with the writing things down keeping track of their needs, for me I'll lose so I'm better to check in with my body because also morning me is also very different from afternoon me.
