Finally gonna be moving out (after YEARS!!! of dealing with family issues)

Finally gonna be moving out (after YEARS!!! of dealing with family issues)

I finally made the decision to wanting to move into a student accomodation away from my family due to a lot of issues I have with them whilst being stuck in the environment with them every single day and I’ve been dealing with those issues for YEARS and the vast amount of times I’ve been expressing of how desperate I am to wanna move out and escape from them. I already had enough of it all and all of the constant negative feelings and stress I have with them and my life in general too.

I know I need to get away, whilst still being on the waitlist for the public housing application that I had to do for myself last year. Because that waitlist for the public housing takes YEARS!!

The thing is, because my family and I are all gonna be relocating to a new apartment soon, I do have to ask if anyone here that has had experience of moving out, knows how long it usually takes to be able to move out after you signed the lease contract for the new apartment/house you’re moving to?

Because the other day (and today) I spoke with the booking manager of the company of the student accomodation, she told me to let her know before the end of this week about the move-in date for me to move into the student accomodation, since the student accomodations are first-come first-serve and some other things etc. etc.

I did tell her yesterday that I’d like to do the October move-in, because I was getting the impression that my family and I are gonna relocate to the new apartment next month (plus we don’t even know the exact date yet of when we’re actually gonna be relocating), because the 30th August is when they’ll be officially signing the contract.

I know you’re wondering why I had to move in with my family first before I can move away from them, is because they needed me to do so after we all move in and that’s because…if it was the 4 of us (myself included) moving in, then we’d be given a room that has 3 bedrooms. Otherwise if I chose to move out before they all move into the new apartment, then they’d be given a smaller room instead and they don’t want that.

Hi @Blackcloud

I've just been reading through your thread and it sounds like you're making some awesome progress to live out of home! Sometimes there's nothing like a new environment to inspire us to make some improvements to our health and to pick up some healthy habits, although it can also be natural to want to stick to some comforts of your regular routines and habits after going through the changes of being in a new environment and living away from your parents.

It's awesome that you're already creating a budget. The cost of groceries can come as a bit of a shock sometimes, but it sounds like you're really well prepared!

I'll be keen to hear how it all goes for you, not long now until October 😊

Hi @Ru-bee yeah true, but it’s not just the groceries part I’m concerned about, it’s the rent part of it that I’m concerned about with regards to the rise of the cost of living. We’re living in a f*cked up world now where everything is expensive. And as someone whose currently on Centrelink payments (like you get paid more when you work than when you don’t work even when you have Centrelink payments to rely on) and that still hasn’t received any phone calls from the recruitment agencies that I’ve been sending my resumes to, it’s tough. Life is tough and it’s all tiring. 🤷‍♀️😪

Ah, I hear you @Blackcloud dealing with Centrelink and looking for work is so draining, lots of work and then lots of waiting which can be just as hard.

Do you have any things that you like to do when you're feeling a bit tired from life to replenish your energy a bit? Activities that 'fill your cup' so to speak?

Hi @tyme it’s going fine I guess. Plus, my family and I are officially gonna relocate to our new apartment on the 27th September, so that’ll be the week before I officially am gonna move to the student accomodation away from my parents house myself.

Also, I do have worries and concerns about living with another student there, and I did ask the staff at that accomodation about that, and they tell me to let them know if any issues amongst me and that roommate arise…. So yeah lol.
