Small victories

Small victories

Just a post to celebrate managing alright, today. Took my medications, prepared dinner for the next three nights, washed the dishes, and got work done! I also didn't relapse on alcohol today, and I'm eating in a moderate way (AKA following dietician instructions). I'm really isolated and don't have friends/family who will grasp what a big deal these victories are, so I'm hoping folks here can relate to what a big deal this all is.

I also quit coffee a couple of days ago, because the caffeine was interfering with my medications and making me very dizzy, and I'm already feeling better. It's not a big deal for me, compared to quitting alcohol anyway, but I'm still proud of it.

I've been going through the motions for a while now, and only yesterday was pretty depressed, but today my mood is up again. I wish it was easier to predict, but I guess that's the norm for mood swings? At least if my mood crashes tomorrow, or in a couple of days, today is proof that I just need to keep trudging on and wait for my brain to get in line.

Re: Small victories

@D1ng0Awesome job, and so you should be proud! I think it's all about the small victories and building on them. It's never easy, but you seem to have a great attitude and are showing so much strength and determination with what you've done. It's inspired me to really try to make a positive change this week, even if it's a small one. Thanks for your post.

Re: Small victories

Thank you @Ainjoule 🙂

I'm sad to say that my mood has crashed again. I'm currently very, very low. I feel like my mood swings are happening faster, and becoming way more common. I wouldn't be surprised if I wake up completely fine tomorrow, because I woke up fine this morning... yet here I am.

If anyone has any advice about riding these wild mood swings, please let me know. I've always had mood swings, but they've never been this extreme. Thank you for helping me.

Re: Small victories

hey @D1ng0, is there any triggers you've noticed that brought about the more extreme mood swings? or are there any signs before the mood swings that you've picked up on?

for me, i'd notice my body start to physically get tired before my low moods and my sleep and stress levels were often linked to it - your signs/triggers could look very different to mine though!

i'm also wondering if there's anything you do that helps soothe those extremely low moods? perhaps taking a nap, listening to music, etc.?

your low moods are not permanent, and it's okay if they go and up down - the important part is finding ways to manage them which we can do. i'm here if you need to talk/distraction 💗
