Hi @utopia, @Shaz51- I start volunteering at the red cross on Tuesday sorting clothes and stuff, I'm a bit nervous but I'm going to give it a go. 🙂 @utopia game of thrones is pretty good I've been watching it over the weekend. It's very well made but really graphic which makes me fast forward alot of it. How are your plants coping? @Shaz51 is it very humid? Do you have to cope with the mosquitoes as well I bet. How was your weekend?

@Former-Member thanks I'm going give it my best shot, I have a months trial. Your encouragement means so much, it's a start for me I guess. My anxiety has been playing up with it but I have prn and I'm going to be pleasant and smile, it's 1pm to 5 pm. How are you going?

Re: Coping with lonlieness

@Starshine. I think the Red Cross would be a great place to volunteer your time. I understand you being nervous. I think we all get that way when we try something new or step out of our comfort zone. But I bet you will love it. And they'll love you too.
Bloody mosquito bites. I'm over them. But it's good not to have such a dry summer. The past few years the farmers have struggled for water and feed at this time of year. So every negative has a positive.
I'm off to bed. Just going to do a short relaxation ap before bed. My best friend just drunk texted me and told me what I need to do to be a better parent!!!! I'll talk to her tomorrow - if she's sober. And explain again - she can't call or text me when drunk - unless there is an emergency. Trying not to let her words get to me. But aaarrrggghhh!!!!
Might need a longer relaxation session now.

Your welcome @Starshine

I remember feeling nervous when I first started my volunteer work - that was about 4 years ago now. At that time I had chronic anxiety - I remember it well. You will feel a real sense of satisfaction after your first day, just give the fact that you didn't allow anxiety to stop you and that sense of achievement and satisfaction will result. A wonderful feeling.

Do you know what your duties will be? That lovely smile you will offer will also make someone else's day better.

Its quite exciting and I look forward to hearing all about it.

i am going not too bad at the moment - intend on doing some more cross stitch today which relaxes me, then I will visit my friend. I am thinking of going to the movies this week to view the new won "Colleteral Beauty". Sound like an interesting feel good movie, the ones I like 😄 Enjoy your day xx

Lasted two hours, then went home I start again next week on Tuesday for 5 hour shift. I hope it is a good thing, I learnt about the history of the red cross and am glad it's getting me out of the house. Thinking of you too xxx

Re: Coping with lonlieness

Hi @Starshine. Volunteering is great for stepping outside the square. I had to late 2015 when my ex (we lived together then) took long-service, plus annual leave over an 8 month period. He decided to join the Man Shed, which led to extra volunteer work with a company who transports the elderly and infirm shopping/tours, Dr's appointments etc. Through his association, I managed to join the same company, 15 months later, I now enjoy driving, plus helping other drivers. My ex left after a few months as he wasn't comfortable. I am now on an aged pension, but consider myself too young to just stay home. The Red Cross does some wonderful work with donations, charity drives etc. If I had to work for a wage, I doubt I'd get the same satisfaction.
