Hi
I am suffering from depression and was wondering if anyone else has experienced brain fog as part of their depression?

@tyme . The best thing that worked to reduce my brain fog was drastically reducing my antidepressant. At the time I was taking twice the maximum recommended dosage. So I went down to half the recommended dosage. I did this over a 4 to 5 month period.

Medication can certainly have an effect on brain fog. It's important to share it with your prescribing doctors to see what can be done about. Not only dosages, but sometimes there are alternative medication which may help too @utopia
So glad you have found what helped.

@tyme my Psychiatrist didn't want to change my meds. Only increasing them every time I had a new depressive episode. And I was getting sick of the side effects. So I looked up how to safely decrease my dosage of my antidepressant and I started. Only then did I inform him. He didn't want me to reduce at all. But I hated being on twice the maximum recommended dosage. It scared me what that level of medication maybe doing to my brain.
Anyway, the reduction in dosage went well.
Another thing about brain fog and memory problems, is that every day I do sudoku puzzles and play Mahjong. I think it helps to keep my brain active. And I know when another Depressive episode is coming, because I fail at the puzzles.

Yes... Brain Fog. I had it constantly. Mine must of been from constant chaos in my life. I was a highly strung, people pleaser and my energy tank was on empty. Life was a battle filled with family court cases, stalking exes and poverty. No one I reached out to knew what I was talking about when I mentioned Brain Fog and that was really difficult for me because of how much it held me back. I couldnt think clearly and my head felt almost light and floatie all the time. I struggled to read maps and get my bearings in general. I couldnt gage time either.
People will take take take and you will give give give and if no one is giving to you while all this is going on your inner self will depleat its energy resource, running on auto pilot to get through the day. Our mind probably limits its activity to reload. Maybe Brain Fog is the flow on from that.
Hang in there and thanks for posting because you are the first I know who has identified with it. It wont be perminant...love yourself up...which is hard to know what or where to start. No one in this world will ever love you as much as you do.
Take care mate

Hello 👋🏼 @Back2basics totally agree with you 👍🏼 If you are experiencing chronic stress, chronic fatigue, post -traumatic stress disorder or have had a recent traumatic experience. Brain 🧠 Fog will be a symptom.
@Umeume how is your progress?
I’ve got my GP follow up today. The antidepressants she put me on are working pretty darn well. It’s the closest I’ve felt to “normal” in a long time.
As @tyme will testify, an engorged Amygdala doesn’t help brain 🧠 fog.
hugs to everyone G

Thanks for you kind words. It’s nice to hear from someone who’s lived it and come out the other side. It gives me hope I can work through this after all.
