Re: Same old

Hi all,
Thanks @Former-Member I don't feel like any of this mess will go away... It's been presented in the worst possible light and distorted facts... Elements of truth but really hard...

had a really hard day today... I feel cursed. But got kids back early so nice to have them here. They're both very over tired and needing lots of snuggles now and not settling. But will get there.

Hi @darrenhayes yes I'm not sure how to change things on mobile... Not much help. Maybe @NikNik or @CherryBomb can help?

Hi @Former-Member,

I hope I didn't minimise what your going through. I just remember at the time of mine thinking a bit like you. 5 years has now passed and although things are not forgiven or forgotten most people in the community have moved past it.

How are you today? I've been thinking about you. 💜🤗

Re: Same old

It's ok to be scared @Former-Member. It is a scary thing to go through when your child has surgery, it doesn't get any easier either. I think this is a for life thing when your child is sick. Here with you and I'll be crossing fingers all goes well. Is he in overnight or is it day surgery? The only time I've stayed in hospital with mine is for asthma attacks when he was 2-4 years. My eldest snapped his ankle in footy at 16 and had surgery and screws put in and stayed over night but I didn't stay with him then.

Sorry rambling. Stay strong @Former-Member, you have so much on your plate but so much to live for too. Sending loads of calming hugs 💜🤗

Re: Same old

he's had surgery before but its still awful. have spent many nights in hospital with him in the past. this is hopefully going to be day surgery but depends on what time he goes in/recovery and how much they end up doing. mostly its hard watching them be put under the anasthetic and then waiting waiting waiting. my daugther has had two general anasthetics and she takes 3 x as long as other kids to wake up. but my lil guy wakes up quickly.

ouch with the ankle.. that was a good job...

i jsut dont see a way through my other stuff. saw two people i knew today whwn we had to go shopping (gotta love country towns... no matter the size) one pretended not to see us. the other said hello but was awkward. feeling alone and i cant see things being better in a year or five.

Re: Same old

I know it's drastic but are there any options of moving to another town or is that just going to be as bad. Our town only had about 400 people. People from other towns nearby tended not to know as much. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. It is really horrible. When I went through my situation we became totally isolated. My kids never had a birthday party after and very few kids came over as their parents wouldn't let them. My boys were petrified of the rumours being young teenagers. It was really difficult for all of us. I really feel for you.

I'm glad you know how your son goes under anaesthetic but I know it never gets easier. I hope it goes really smoothly.

Re: Same old

no no options to move because of family court orders that i stay here.

i'm sorry you and your boys went through that. 😞 thats awful. i am so scared. my psych suggested i change my name today. she says i have nothing ot be ashamed of and that i know the truth of things etc but it doesnt help. they all want me to 'hold my head up high' and face everyone but facing everyone and surviving being treated like a freak and being isolated is just not something im strong enough for. and worst part is i know there is more to come.

Re: Same old

Yeah I know that scared feeling. For the first two years I only spoke to my GP and therapist. I hid most of the rest of the time. Actually one of the people who was supportive was the principal of the kids school who knew me well but I avoided school at all costs. We only lived 6 houses or so away from it and my kids were older.

I understand why they want you to hold your head up and how hard that is in reality. May be changing your name isn't a bad thing but I think you'll have to think through that thoroughly first. From my perspective you can only say to anyone that they don't know both sides. its a pity you can't move.

@Faith-and-Hope is good with this stuff.

Re: Same old

Sorry @Former-Member, @Faith-and-Hope,

im sorry if my last post comes across a bit abruptly. I'm getting really tired and have spent the day going in circles and am not really trusting myself to say the right things at the moment. @Faith-and-Hope I know you'll have so many more skills than me to offer @Former-Member. I know I have the experience in something very different but somewhat similar in the way that it affects us.

Im going to sign off for now. @Former-Member I know you'll find the strength to manage but I know it will be really tough and I wish you didn't have to go through this. You don't deserve it, you've had enough suffering in your young life already. 💜🤗
