Welcome and getting started

Idk

Idk

I don't know how any of this works and I don't really know how to talk to people, I'm 16 and I think autistic or something idk, I really just need literally anyone to talk to right now, I feel so stupid and clueless all the time, I feel like I don't know anything about how the world works. And I'm scared. and i hate myself so much I feel sick looking in the mirror. But I hate who I am as well and I feel like I don't even know who that is, it's just bits of everyone else I've ever met.

Idk if anyone will read this or not but I don't know if this is what I was supposed to say I literally just found this website by asking Snapchat Ai "Is there someone or something I can chat to right now over text or something like that, I feel awful"

I could write so much more but like I said, i really don't know how this works or what I'm supposed to say

Hi @EBrae I felt the same at your age, every thing I did, I did it awkwardly: ) I was terrible at having conversations with people. I felt so out of place in every place I went. But that’s ok. The things U are good at now I bet U were not so good at when U started. Practice, perseverance and not being afraid to make mistakes will make U great at anything U decide to do. Imagine if when we were first learning to walk and we took our fist step, fell over and thought well I’m hopeless at that, I’m never doing that again. When I was younger I was was afraid to start conversations with people (I still am a little) but I love to sing and play guitar, so I went busking, it scared the life out of me lol but after I would play a song people would come up and throw a dollar in my hat and start a conversation with me I would get a little better at talking with people and my confidence would grow bit by bit. These days I go to open mic nights, get up on stage and sing and play guitar not because I like it, or that I’m any good at it, I do it because it scares me to death and I want to get better at it and facing my fears helps build my confidence. So what I’m saying is don’t be afraid to be awkward or fear making mistakes, everyone U admire for the talent they have was not born that way they once to were awkward and made heaps of mistakes but kept practicing and persevering and making mistakes to get to where they are now. Keep going and things will be ok ; )

Re: Idk

Hi @EBrae , welcome to the forum 🙂 I remember having a conversation with a friend in my early 20s that is a good example of how we can move past these insecurities. She had met a guy in a pub or something and was really connecting with him but when she mentioned having kids one day it turned him off. I'd just started a relationship with a guy and I was able to tell my friend that when I'd been getting to know this guy over the phone I'd said something about having kids and then must have apologised as young girls instinctively feel they should because apparently men are all afraid of commitment but he reassured me saying he liked that I'd thought about having kids with him! This was a totally new dynamic for me and it not only helped me relax but hopefully also gave my friend hope that she didn't have to shut that part of herself off for anyone anymore. Like the resilience literature says, you just need one adult who cares to change the course of your life. I had a dream last night that I was getting to know a guy, I had a moment of awkwardness but most of the dream I was winning this guy over with humour, flirty initiative and sincerity. I just want to encourage you that anyone who wants good relationships for you will overlook the awkward or socially taboo moments and draw out the best in you because they can only be at their best when a conversation is skilful, uplifting and sincere, as opposed to being given some badly written or rushed script or storyline to try and make something of. We will always do the best we can with the material we're given but hopefully for each of us there's a benchmark to remind us of how good conversations can be. Let us know when you find those people 🙂
