Welcome and getting started

Rapid cycling despair and hopelessness

Rapid cycling despair and hopelessness

I am 64 - and I have lost hope. I live by myself - (except for my beloved cats) - in a very small town - and they are the only living beings keeping me going. It is too late to have hope - I have messed my life up over and over for years and years

Re: Rapid cycling despair and hopelessness

@JulesBlues @Hi there I felt compelled to reply to you as I haven’t looked in the forum for a week and I have a couple similarities to you. The first is I am a 64 year old and I live in a very small rural town. Loneliness is a complicated thing as I have large loving family and friends but because of my ongoing anxiety from a trauma I had isolated myself. Actually after being in this forum I have taken up studying aromatherapy for menopause women. I do have to be in right frame of mind to do it but it gives me some focus and purpose so explore some study even by your local library. I’m also practising holistic practises via YouTube such as yoga and Vegus nerve exercises as our town has limited things to do. I can feel myself coming out of my hole. I really believe you can do it and you already have proved your love with your Gorgious cats and don’t underestimate their role in your life. Do you know the day I enrolled in my course I spoke to a woman involved with this course for over an hour on the phone and that very conversation from a a stranger boosted my confidence. In fact I felt happy afterwards so just doing the smallest positive thing for yourself can turn your life around. All the best I feel your life is already improving .

Oh Moonlake - thank you so much for your BeautiFULL and inspiring - and insightful post - it really, really helped.
After reading your words - it was great to know I am not alone after reading you really relate to my living alone - and my being 64.
And yes - Smudgy and Ella - the gorgeous cats that are such are wonderful part of my life - really bring me enormous comfort.
I was sitting here in bed just now thinking of my life 20 years ago and I was getting lost in what I was doing then - and how much ‘bigger’ my life was then.
And hearing about all the ‘stuff’ you are doing made me realise - in the truest of ways - (if that makes sense) - that I have to live now - I need to push myself to not get lost in isolation and depression and despair - I have spent today doing all of the aforementioned - and I SO often get lost in aforementioned - and isolation, depression and despair - and I want to at least to try and broaden my life again instead of remembering how it once was.
I don’t know how I am going to do it in a small town - I am doing volunteering - but I need to leave the house - and meet more people - and learn.
I am thinking of you with gratitude - and sending you hope, love and gratitude
Jules ♥️

@JulesBlues Ive woken to read your post and I’ve got to say that the old adage that when you give, you receive, has come true for me! The knowledge that I have helped you has in turn made me feel better. When you said you look back on your life I understood as I only looked back 5 years and I made myself upset and sad because I was happy and carefree then and I thought I’d never feel like that again. I’ve been trying for nearly 3 years with lots medical intervention to get to that place again and I’m actually very very surprised that the encouragement from this forum very quickly has changed me for the better. Im still being careful as its early days but I went out on Saturday to local football, my husband has been going on his own for a long while, and I talked to all sorts of people and came home all in tact. For me I was making myself physically sick and just reading a book recommended to me turned a light bulb on, wow! So keep at it,you can be like the great person you remember and thank you for your kind words because that also added to healing me.
