Re: Unwell

Yes, I am safe. Just very depressed, tears, hopeless feelings.

Hi, I don't struggl see with depression but what often helps me through a tough time is to have some good goals in place. Someone to talk with also helps. Josiah

Re: Unwell

Hello @John18, welcome to the forums, I'm really glad you're here!

I'm sorry to hear what's brought you here and that you're struggling with your depression at the moment.

You say you have managed it for decades, that is a pretty good feat! Was there any particular strategies or things you have used and done over the years that were particularly helpful to coping? Is there anything that has changed recently making it harder to manage?

I hope get on top of it soon and in the meantime find solace in the strength and support of others 🙏

Hi @John18

Sorry to hear you are going through a tough time, I have also struggled with depression for a long time, sometimes manageable and sometimes not so good. One thing I have managed to do to control this is, when thought's take over my mind, I would try to distract myself, start engaging in something to keep myself busy, could be a hobby, or something simple that brings me joy. I noticed the longer I don't engage in any activity, the I worse I felt. Be kind to yourself, this will pass, wishing you a speedy recovery and happiness, take care.

Re: Unwell

Hey John

I am new to SANE and I am pretty sure you are too.

I know that when you are in despair and depression - it seems that it will never abate - well - that is my experience - and for me - it means I will not leave my bed or home.

And for me that also means just hanging in there until the depression and despair lift even a little - and then moving back into the world. And trying really hard to not judge myself. I think it is a fantastic - and really courageous - move to contact this site. Especially when you are feeling so depressed. Maybe try and keep taking little steps in staying connected to the world by communicating with others on this site.

Please take care of yourself - I am thinking of you
