You're Invited - Live Online Event in the Yarning Space, 27th May (Have your say!)

Hello,

Thank you for joining the "Yarning Space" subforum! It’s deadly to have you involved.

I am an Aboriginal man from Yuin Country, employed at SANE as the Social Emotional Wellbeing Manager (SEWB), my role is to embed a Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Framework into SANE’s programs and services which includes the forums, and the new Yarning Space currently being trialed and co-designed.

We would like to invite you to a special live event to provide us with some feedback about the yarning space and start the process of co-designing the future look and feel of the space as it's important that we know what’s important to you. The event will be a live online group discussion led by SANE and co-hosted by @ArraDreaming. Participants that join the event and contribute will be compensated for their time.

When: Monday 27th May 7:00pm to 8:30pm AEST

How to participate? Simply login at 7:00pm and join the live conversation by replying to some questions. Questions will be posted during this time, so you and others can respond and provide feedback.

We would love to get some feedback from you about:

  • How easy it is to sign up
  • How easy it is to find the space after you have signed up
  • How easy is it to post
  • Whether we keep the space invitation only but make it visible on the SANE Forums page.
  • What does SEWB mean to you and how can we make the space culturally safe, responsive to your needs, and unique compared to the other Forums?
  • What content would you like to see
  • What design would you like to see
  • Other suggestions/feedback

What is co-design? “Co-design” refers to a participatory approach to designing solutions, in which community members are treated as equal collaborators in the design process.

Hope you all can make it!

I think it should stay as invite only to keep it as culturally sound as possible.

I found it annoying trying to connect with the hubs generally as I have community emails switched off so the invitations were not hitting my inbox. I also generally use my mobile to access the forums and I can't see my hubs on there. It would be good if there was a hubs link where the profile link and other links are in blue below my notifications (if that makes sense?).

I do think it would be good to have an invitation on the main forums

@Oaktree if you click on your profile name, scroll down on your “profile page” your hubs are at the bottom 🙂

Thanks @ArraDreaming

I didn't know that. It is not very easy to use if you don't know where to find the hubs. I was only finding them when being tagged

Just an add-on question:

1) What device are you currently using tonight?

2) How easy is it to navigate the Yarning Space on your device?

@Oaktree , just to let you know, the Hubs widget has been added only today. Hopefully, when you log in, you will be able to see a list of Hubs you are connected to under "My Group Hubs".

It’s quite hard around here @SouthsNo1. There aren’t many elders or members around. There isn’t a good history here. It wasn’t a safe place.

I think some videos or resources on here could help with some practical ways of connecting. Contextualizing to local country is the challenge, but this would generate a good discussion once we grow the forums, the solutions are in our hands (meaning members and community).

I’m using my phone. I have never logged in on anything else.

I do find that sometimes you are doubling back on yourself to get to another section. Some as the main forums. You just get use to it though.

I wonder if there might be value in letting Non Aboriginal/TSI in to this hub. People who are pro and want to learn more about culture and Aboriginal/TSI values. Make it a place where reconciliation can take place?
