Anger tantrums

Anger tantrums

hi everyone, I’m just looking for a little bit of advice. if anyone knows me from my earlier post, I have a bit of anger issues built up trauma over childhood, and now I have brought my anger issues into my relationship recently. I was lashing out at my partner, and the fights were very very ugly because I was treating him unfairly. I went to Therapy for a few times but unfortunately

I cannot longer afford it at the moment but I can say it really did help me with strategies that I’ve taken with me and whenever I remember to use them they help so much. Within the last three weeks, for some reason, I been having these anger tantrums where I jump around, I scream I run around the house. I don’t know what to do I don’t know if it’s normal, but I don’t want to do it any more and I want to go forward from it. For instance last night me and my partner are having a conversation, and he said something that I didn’t like, and I punched the bed frame, it could be a different way of expressing my anger instead of lashing out at him but now I feel like I’m scaring him, and to be honest, I’m scaring me too. I don’t know if it’s my inner child expressing herself as she would. I’m not sure, but if anyone has any advice to not have those tantrums, then I’ll be all ears

thank you

Hii. Thank you

trying my best.
been going ok wouldn’t say 100%

still kind of feisty forwards certain things and conversation 😂. Only within my words tho, I have not acted out in tantrums or with any certain other physical movements. I was angry earlier and I wrote a big letter and scribbled and drew all over the page. I’ve only done this once before because it feels silly but it did work. Thanks for thinking about it 💗

Also, I think it's good to think about anger as an emotion. And it's not that anger is 'bad', but rather, the behaviours associated can be harmful.

For me, I was also angry earlier this week. I took deep breaths, then I punched the letters on my phone to write a message. Each letter was like a fire ball attacking the screen. When I say 'punched', I don't mean with my fist. I punched each letter in with my finger... AND, i didn't send the message/s straight away... I waited until I calmed down.

I loved reading about your strategy @Blue13 ! it's something I should try too! I used to get really angry all the time, but now, it's not often.

That’s good to hear, as long as it works for you then your on the right path.
we may go back and forth but we are never what we were before which is improvement

that’s how I see it 🤷‍♀️ when I can actually see the positive in a good state of mind 😂

most my strategies are from my therapist or boyfriend. They are very helpful

my boyfriend has a strategy, when he is angry he just starts doing his time tables in his head. I don’t think that could ever work for me because I wouldn’t be calm enough to even know my timetables 😂 but he did suggest it
