Re: Yarning for community

I live on Wiradjuri country and part of the Kamilaroi Nation. I follow rugby league but a lot less than before they introduced the Super League. That caused a lot of friction in the league and across the supporter base of teams, in my view. As you may be thinking, I remember telegrams, but not Morse Code. I exercise regularly and enjoy good friends. I find this valuable to feeling well and connected.

Re: Yarning for community

Hey there

from Kamilaroi country and always striving to get back onto country to refocus and release negative energies.
Being on country helps much with managing wellbeing and self care. Just being able to swim in traditional waters and being surrounded by a sense of security is the best

Re: Yarning for community

My favourite thing to do to help when I am stressed is go for a walk barefoot on country with my family

Re: Yarning for community

Nothing better than feeling country between your toes and having that connection. It’s like the conduit is complete again and again with every step.
It’s the same feeling I get relaxing in the healing waters of Kamilaroi country.
Takes away so much anxiety and stress

Re: Yarning for community

Welcome @RugbyAFL! Nice to meet you

I agree with the water too - we have a river by our house that I like to swim in with our dog sometimes

Re: Yarning for community

I spend a lot of my spare time at the river or in the ocean it is calming

Re: Yarning for community

The ocean and moving water always has a connection to saltwater people.
Just the sound and movement makes people so relaxed. It can be mesmerising and be just as good as being on country.
Even for a freshwater person, the ocean draws you near with the sound alone.
