9 things NOT to say to someone who is a carer--- Teaching others what to say

Hello Everyone

1) “I don’t know how you do it.”

2) “I sure wouldn’t want to deal with what you have to.” –

3) “You’re just a caregiver, you don’t have a real job?”

4) Everything happens for a reason and God doesn’t give us more than we can handle’

Glad I read this post. I've read heaps of things about how to deal with somebody who suffers but never found much about the carers.

One @Anony18 said stands out for me. "If he likes you he will want to see you and talk to you everyday." My partner used to say that about herself and tell me I deserve somebody "better" than her.

Hi @Oby46 - my ex-partner use to say that too. We broke up on mutual terms as he was really struggling unfortunately and had to find out what triggered him. We still in contact though which is good. It must have been hard to hear your partner say that. Hopefully things are better now.

@Shaz51 - yes I have visited that thread. Was the first one I went to here when I started having to deal with my ex-partner's issues. It helped alot!
