Feeling like I need to be looked after

Feeling like I need to be looked after

Has anyone felt like they just want someone to look after them? I dip into that feeling every now and then, especially when things get tough. It’s like wanting to be rescued, protected or saved. It’s an odd sense of being alone and fear I won’t survive.

@Sand thats’s a big thing to deal and process for anyone, so be kind to yourself. Loss can really enhance those feelings. For me I know that my sense of self- reliance is there but difficult to recognise or gets buried among all my anxiety or whatever else is going on for me.

@tyme @Hyperballad

Thank you for your support and kind words!

I have made a GP appointment so that I can get a mental health care plan, and then get some free therapy, however that is a few weeks away.

I think I will really need to drill into my brain the need to be kind to myself. I will also need to learn to be better accepting of the changes. At the moment I'm still in shock that this is all happening.

Re: Feeling like I need to be looked after

I get it @Sand. My partner of 30years has abandoned me and "I don't know how to be a person on my own". And on top of that the financial and social difficulties.

Like you ,"I just keep thinking how much I want someone or something to come save me".

No knight in shining armour yet so just a bit of extra self care and figuring out who I am.

I find it helps to speak and care for myself as if I am looking after a child.what would that child need for kindness and comfort?
