A Daily Dose of Mindfulness

A Daily Dose of Mindfulness

Hi Everyone.

I'm a reIatively new moderator, this thread is a good way of me being able to say hi to you, introduce myself and also reach out to the abundance of knowledge in the community. I’ve recently decided that I would like to engage in mindfulness. I want some of this good stuff I hear that can come with it such as raising self-awareness and increasing a sense of inner calmness. Seeing it is new for me I was interested in hearing other people’s experiences of mindfulness. I’m finding it helpful to use the Smiling Mind app to help me find my way. I’m curious in finding more to add to my list or other ways in engaging in the practice. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Pebbles.

I am struggling with the daily dose of mindfulness, as reality bites hard every day !!! the reality is bills need to be paid, work needs to be done, peoples expectations need to be met and I need to get into the mindfulness grove to grow as a individual to ensure my mental health does not end up killing me...its not always that simple when you have many hands in the air and need to be focused on one !

Re: A Daily Dose of Mindfulness

Hi @Matt12 my daily dose of mindfulness has been interestingly getting easier. I'm enjoying practising being mindful in the form of Mindful Eating and Mindful Walking.

Mindful Eating has been a whole new world for me! Sitting down at a table and eating a meal without engaging in any other activities - no newspaper, book, TV, radio, music, or talking. Eating my meal paying full attention to which piece of food you select to eat, how it looks, how it smells, how you cut the food, the muscles I use to raise it to my mouth, the texture and taste of the food as I chew it slowly. I'm amazed at how different the food tastes when eaten in this way and how filling a meal can be.

Mindful Walking Here I've used the same principle, while walking I concentrate on the feel of the ground under my feet and my breathing while walking. Observing what is around me as I walk, staying IN THE PRESENT. Letting my other thoughts go, looking at the sky, the view, the other walkers; feeling the wind, the temperature on my skin and enjoying the moment.

What are your mindfulness interests? 🙂

Hiya @Former-Member, I've found that I eat chocolate mindfully as a matter of course.
Pity this is not something I should do daily!
If you have any tips that would be great. I just borrowed a book from the library on mindfulness, so I will see how it goes. 😊

Hi all

I keep comimg back to this "daily dose of mindfulness' as with out you slide the wrong way,I like my coffee instant, the daily dose of mindfulness takes time....more work neeeded at my end will start dringing coffee from a pluncher, that will slow me down and be "mindfull" of the process.

cheers to all

Hi @Matt12

Thank you for your input on mindfulness. I'm excited by what seems your enthusiasm for mindfulness.

How are you implementing your daily doses? I'm discovering the more I play with mindfulness the more I am drawn in by it 🙂

I hope you have a weekend with moments of peace 🙂
