Re: Anyone feel like chatting? Coffee/Tea ☕💕
My husband had a cockatiel when we got married @Adge
That bird was a weirdo - he had Displacement Disorder, Jealous of his owner's new wife disorder and Anger Disorder
Apart from talking a lot he screeched and pecked me - I stopped letting him out of the cage - he would screech "Cornflakes! - Cornflakes" until I pushed some through the bars of his cage but he pecked my fingers - if I tried to feed him he pecked my hand. - and screeched and screeched
When our first child was born and I was stuck in the house with the bird - I had to pull some strings - and it was the bird had to leave or I was leaving with the baby. The bird was taken away
I think you had a lot of birds and maybe they were all okay together - this cockatiel was just plain jealous of me and I was the hand that stopped feeding him
Jelly puss the destructo cat sounds a bit like the dog I had for a short while - Patrick McSpaniel-Dog - waaaaaalllll - he didn't last too long either
But I have had lots of cats that lasted the rest of their lives with us - and two canaries who lived for over 9 years until they dropped off their perches - beautiful birds - German Rollers - both male - wonderful bird song
And I had hermit crabs - they didn't get names because they changed shells over-night - I loved them - I think they died of kindness or being allowed to run around the lounge on the floor
Thanks for talking about your animals - esp the birds - they sound wonderful

Thanks @Owlunar Your past pets sounded really interesting too. I've never had hermit crabs.
I have a very aggressive yellow peachface named Rainbow, who sounds a bit like your past Cockatiel.
They actually call Cockatiels "Weiros" in WA, which is why I put that name in brackets. If you say Cockatiel here, people often don't know what bird you mean.
Jelly puss is only about 8 months old -yet she is the most destructive cat that I've ever had. Major behaviour issues that I've never had from a cat before (stressful).
I've never had a German Roller canary, yet I know what they are (they're lovely) - the sound of my Canaries singing is lovely, that's why I keep them. Mine are mostly yellow with brown wings, plus an orange one - I like unusual markings & colours.
I used to have a pet rat years ago, they actually make lovely pets.

Talking about your birds @Owlunar@Adge, reminded me of how my mother used to breed canaries. She had German rollers and red factors mainly but also some plain white and yellow ones. I had a German roller called Dandy and he was a magnificent singer.
We always had a budgie that we trained to talk but only one at a time. We had dogs, guinea pigs, fish and penny turtles growing up. Never had cats or mice though.

@Shaz51Yes I still have Rainbow the yellow peachface, although he or she (I'm not sure which) tries to attack me every time I come near. Would you believe that he was originally hand-raised (& tame)?
I've had quite a few peachfaces over the years. I really like them, although this one is very cranky.
I had a Cockatiel (Weiro) called Woo Woo years ago. That's because he used to wolf-whistle Woo Woo quite often (someone had taught him to do that).
