TW: Intense themes/potentially triggering content

Hey everyone, there's a few of us around that have spoken about their poetic streak, so I decided to create a space for folks to share their poetry!!

@creative_writer @tonys @tyme @Bow @Birdofparadise8 @ENKELI @Blackbird11 @Snowie @Captain24 @Shaz51 @Glisten @Former-Member @Jacques

Please also tag anyone who might want to have a read, or share some of their own!

You're welcome to share any kind of poems or small pieces of creative writing. Feel free to share some of your darker works if you have them, so long as they still remain within the bounds of the Guidelines, and please include trigger warnings and use spoiler tags as necessary.

Sometimes, this kind of deeper, more vulnerable form of expression can bring up some pretty heavy feelings. If you ever find yourself becoming distressed or dysregulated whilst sharing or reading along, please don't hesitate to reach out to your supports. The SANE line is full of lovely peeps who can sit with you through the darkness (Call 1800 187 263, Mon-Fri 10am-8pm). For out of hours support or for crisis, contact the following:

Lifeline: 13 11 14 or Crisis Chat

Suicide call back service: 1300 659 467 or online counselling

Samaritans: 135 247

If in immediate danger: 000

It's hard to be vulnerable. But seeing the deeper parts in others can give us the courage to share those deeper, sometimes very raw and emotional parts of ourselves, and see that we're not alone in this wild ride called life. I hope we can learn from each other, become closer and more connected, and find resonance in our shared human experience. I'll kick us off ~

I wrote this poem about a time in my life where I would think about the things underlined in the poem. This piece is something that I wrote as a reflection on that time.

Trigger Warning:

This poem has thoughts about death, grief and purpose in life, the poem overall has a soft tone

I wonder if anyone else has had similar times like this and a similar train of thought?

What does it mean

To have a fascination with death

I don’t think I’m depressed

Ruminating if I’d be missed

Would grief exist?

Would it linger?

Would it persist?

Would I feel calm?

A sense of peace

A quiet exit

A type of release

Would I mourn

What could have been

The life I wanted

But barely seen

Could I be reunited

With the ones I love

Would they remember

They where beloved

Maybe I’m tired

Just need some rest

I think I’m okay

Just need to reset

I just saw this thread and it reminded me of a book I read to the kids yesterday. They laughed so much:

"Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

Your feet are big

And they really stink"

Ah roses are red, and sunflowers are yellow
thanks for the invite of this short, portly fellow
it brought much happiness, when I learned of this thread

thought I would blast one out...before heading to bed!

Poems are my medicine, when I'm fed up or thoughtful

they dredge up my inner thoughts, simply delightful

@avant-garde @MissGremlin I love it! I have a rubber chicken with a squeaky button on it, brings my little cat so much joy. I challenge anyone, no matter how depressed you might feel, not to crack a smile while interacting with a rubber chicken!😋

For any geeks out there like me, I thought I would share this one. Its a representation of a special class of numbers called Fibonnacci sequence (each number is the sum of the previous two). So I put it into words. I published this provately back in 2015 originally, but I have taken my actual name off it for privacy. If you have an interest in things like this, you might enjoy this - its the sequence in word form in this format (0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and so on)

@MissGremlin, silly me, I was distracted a little when I replied. I will correct the tag. Thanks for letting me know.

@Icaruslanded no worries at all. Loving your poetry that you've been sharing, keep up the great work. I have many poems but only share them within my thread as they are often of a triggering nature.
