Roses are red, violets are blue, here's a poetry thread, from me to you! (TW)

Roses are red, violets are blue, here's a poetry thread, from me to you! (TW)

TW: Intense themes/potentially triggering content

Hey everyone, there's a few of us around that have spoken about their poetic streak, so I decided to create a space for folks to share their poetry!!

@creative_writer @tonys @tyme @Bow @Birdofparadise8 @ENKELI @Blackbird11 @Snowie @Captain24 @Shaz51 @Glisten @Former-Member @Jacques

Please also tag anyone who might want to have a read, or share some of their own!

You're welcome to share any kind of poems or small pieces of creative writing. Feel free to share some of your darker works if you have them, so long as they still remain within the bounds of the Guidelines, and please include trigger warnings and use spoiler tags as necessary.

Sometimes, this kind of deeper, more vulnerable form of expression can bring up some pretty heavy feelings. If you ever find yourself becoming distressed or dysregulated whilst sharing or reading along, please don't hesitate to reach out to your supports. The SANE line is full of lovely peeps who can sit with you through the darkness (Call 1800 187 263, Mon-Fri 10am-8pm). For out of hours support or for crisis, contact the following:

Lifeline: 13 11 14 or Crisis Chat

Suicide call back service: 1300 659 467 or online counselling

Samaritans: 135 247

If in immediate danger: 000

It's hard to be vulnerable. But seeing the deeper parts in others can give us the courage to share those deeper, sometimes very raw and emotional parts of ourselves, and see that we're not alone in this wild ride called life. I hope we can learn from each other, become closer and more connected, and find resonance in our shared human experience. I'll kick us off ~

Re: Roses are red, violets are blue, here's a poetry thread, from me to you! (TW)

panic in me rises

as I think about tomorrow

as I think about what could be

as I think about what's been

the anxiety and the terror

of somewhere unfamiliar

somewhere that's not normal

not for Christmas Day

extenuating circumstances

brought about decision

knowing what I'm in for

the fear and apprehension

for unto us a child is born

unto us a son is given

with all the names he shall be called

including Prince of peace

Christmas though? I dread it

with all it's meant to mean

and all it does is hurt

of all that once had been

emotion regulation?

no, not a chance

it hurts too much what's happened

from the terrors of my past

it feels to be so stupid

to even consider this

spending Christmas at church?

I normally give it a miss

all the loving families

with Christmas in their homes

I've never really had that

mine don't even come close

so have a very merry Christmas

with no bad memories

On the day, please pray

for all the ones like me

that we could maybe smile

despite the peculiarity

that we might know love

and maybe somehow happy

@MissGremlin @Jynx

@MissGremlin @Jynx @AuntGlow

It makes me feel sick you know

That my skin begins to crawl

What happened at [rehab]

It was truly abhorrent

How they said my past was all lies

And that I had to say I'm sorry

To all the ones I'd told

And to ask for their forgiveness

My body, how it's holding this

Like it's fighting from within

It's fighting against itself

To speak but to keep it in

I'll tell you, fine I'll tell you

It was psychological torture

Told me everything was wrong

And that I couldn't be right

Communication strangled

Like their [detail removed]

The poison in my bloodstream

All their toxic thoughts

It makes my body spasm

It made my mind shut down

It stopped me from speaking

I could see no way out

They invited my abusers

To come and see the change

To see the person they had made me

One who would behave

One who would stay quiet

And be silent about the rape

To again be the good girl

Who had learned to behave

Forced into submission

By those that claim they're God's

But it had a darker nature

One that left me scarred

[Rehab] didn't help me

They sentenced me to death

Their actions could've killed me

If Jesus wasn't my advocate

Hi @avant-garde,

Thank you for sharing your poem, it takes a lot of courage to share something so vulnerable. It sounds like you have used poetry/writing to express some really difficult feelings and experiences.

If you need to talk more about this or any further support, please reach out to 1800Respect or Lifeline.

I encourage you to continue to reach out to the community.

Thank you,
Aegis.

I had a friend inspire me today to write a poem on clearance... I had fun writing this one

@Jynx @MissGremlin @rav3n

Every person that knows me

Knows that I love clearance

Often called the clearance Queen

For the bargains that I find

I love clearance items

I love clearance sections

I love clearance stores

And I love clearance day

I love all things clearance

From services and trades

From Lego and dessert

From op shops and their sales

I know all the different stickers

Woolworths and Coles

Big W and Kmart

Even the Reject Shop

The joy in finding clearance

Is like nothing else

You'll see my eyes light up

And conversation stop

Suddenly I'll fixate

On the object I desire

Debating on the saving

What percentage do I save?

Ten percent? No

Twenty-five percent? Maybe

Fifty percent? Likely

Ninety percent? Yes

The supermarkets have their times

To clearance nearby dates

I know all my local times

And I check the use by dates

I love it when they miss one

And I take it to the staff

"This is due today

Can you mark it down?"

The joy I find in clearance

Is one that I can't hide

With the smile on my face

And the eager sparkle in my eyes
