Hey everyone, there's a few of us around that have spoken about their poetic streak, so I decided to create a space for folks to share their poetry!!

You're welcome to share any kind of poems or small pieces of creative writing. Feel free to share some of your darker works if you have them, so long as they still remain within the bounds of the Guidelines, and please include trigger warnings and use spoiler tags as necessary.

It's hard to be vulnerable. But seeing the deeper parts in others can give us the courage to share those deeper, sometimes very raw and emotional parts of ourselves, and see that we're not alone in this wild ride called life. you know the dad I longed for?

is a dad he never was

a dad he never could be

a dad who went beyond

a dad that loved his daughter

one always there to protect

a dad that helped and sacrificed

one who doesn't want profit

a dad who would give his daughter

away on her wedding day

a dad who'd be a grandpa

and love forever and a day

a dad who taught me how to drive

and taught me right from wrong

a dad who would reflect God's image

in his heart and in his home

you know the dad I longed for

is the dad I never had

is the dad I never knew

is the dad that I still lack

I may never have THAT father

but I have one who saved my life

I have one who rescued me

and gave his only son

he didn't give me driving lessons

but he sent someone who could

he didn't give me my first job

but he provided livelihood

he may not have done the practical

but he always made a way

he may not walk me down the aisle

but he's with me everyday

yes this day hurts so much

for the dad I never had

for the dad I always wanted

for the dad that I lacked

but I never lacked a father

to teach me and to guide

to love me and listen

in him I shall abide

@avant-garde that poem is beautiful and I am going to keep it as a reminder of our True Father.

My dad decided his happiness with another woman was more important than his wife (my mum) and 2 kids. He left us with nothing when I was 5 and I didn't see him again until I was 12, and a few times until I was about 25. By then he was on to wife number 3, a truly awful woman who turned my dad against me. For many years I suffered torment and hurt caused by her and I was well into my 30s before dad and I reconciled. Up until about 10 years ago the relationship was surface and I didn't have much to do with him. Now he's at the end of his life and we finally have a relationship. It helps that stepmonster finally popped her clogs but I don't even know if I'll ever see him again - he lives in NSW.

Reading your poem reminds me that our heavenly Father never leaves us or disowns us. Thank you for sharing it 😊 🥰
