Anxious about not having a job and getting scammed

Anxious about not having a job and getting scammed

Someone on reddit said they would send me $120 through Payid so I gave him my details and I’m now really anxious I’m going to get scammed

He said he would help because I was saying about how I really need a job and stuff

Before I hop off @ArraDreaming @Zoe7 ,

Here's a link from e-safety (gov) regarding payID.

This is what it says:

IS PAYID SAFE?

Yes, your money is protected by your bank’s fraud detection processes. There’s also an extra level of security with making payments to a PayID since the name of the person you’re transferring money to appears before you confirm the transaction. This helps to stop money being sent to the wrong person or a scammer. If the name displayed isn’t what you're expecting, you can stop the payment.

Yeah ok @tyme the money never came through but it looks like they can’t access anything anyway
Probably just someone having a laugh or something
I am an idiot

@ArraDreaming Keep in mind it's the weekend, too, so maybe transactions aren't being processed today.

Everything's different these days what with computers automating everything, so maybe my thinking's out of date. But once upon a time, if you made a transaction outside of standard business hours (e.g. on the weekend), it wouldn't appear in the recipiant's account until the next business day, at the earliest.

@chibam Most pay services like payID, Paypal, etc. are instant now. Some banks also process transfers straight away - depending on if it is being transferred by and to the same bank. Transferring to another bank can still take a couple of days (depending on the bank). I often have to ask for money from my family when I am really stuck so they make sure it is transferred from their same bank as I bank with so it comes through in a matter of minutes (hate asking for money but sometimes I have no choice 😢).

BTW @ArraDreaming You are not an idiot - it is so hard to not have any money and all the stress that comes with that. I am going to tell you this so you can believe in people a little bit ...last week I saw a person I often see outside the local supermarkets. I always stop, say hi and have a chat. Last week she was assaulted nearby and her phone smashed so she had no way of connecting with anyone - especially services that she relies on. I took her into a shop and bought her a phone. I am only telling you this so you have a little faith in people - this person may have been playing you but that does not mean everyone is the same. Wish I could help more 😢

I know you do buddy - so wish we could help out 😢

I could certainly do with some help here at the moment - have some big things to dig out and can't do it myself with my back. Have you thought of putting an add in the paper for general garden work? Often people will pay cash for a couple of hours here and there @ArraDreaming

@Zoe7 yeah I have been asking a few locals and a guy around the corner a landscaper said he might need some help in the next few weeks not permanent or full time anything like that but just a bit of cash for helping so hopefully that works out
this is my own doing so I really should not complain just learn from it

I know you messed up at your last job buddy but that does not mean you are not good at what you do - was just one of those things and you weren't well for a long time - so stop kicking yourself about it okay 👍

Anything you can get at present will be great - you can keep looking for something more permanent but having some cash coming in for the interim will help @ArraDreaming
