Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Oh @Shaz51 It can be really hard to be around people, when they're really anxious.

The anxiety "spills over", & leaves partners etc feeling anxious too.

I get high anxiety at times - yet I'm so good at containing (or hiding) it, that no one around me knows (usually).

I thought mr shaz was ok this morning but just tired from the last busy few days

but at lunch time

he yawed soo much that I asked hime what was wrong

he told me 3 things that were worrying him , which was good but to encourage a solution was hard

@Adge Just reflecting that you are good at hiding anxiety - do you also have ways to release it or things that calm you back down - esp at Christmas ?? I find myself having more cups of tea and reading my sci fi book more regularly .. these calm me the most

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hi @Sophie1 Yes I do try to find positive ways to release or deal with anxiety.

Although in my work situation (supporting people with challenging behaviours) - staff are not supportive of each other, despite the anxiety-provoking nature of our work (& demands on us).

So we are more or less forced to "keep a stiff upper lip", & pretend that "nothing is a problem" & that we're not anxious.

I find talking to someone who is supportive & understanding (if I can find someone) is helpful - relieves anxiety.

Plus yoga classes, sometimes some nice soothing music.

Drinking tea helps me too.
