Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

ah ha , mum is ok, still in hospital but they have giving mum walking frame and a wheelie to use at home -- But she is not going to use them @Former-Member

I really understand your mother @Shaz51 - whatever anyone else says she is not prepared to use the wheelie - I so get that

Of course - maybe it will come the time when she has to and I guess if people leave her up to that choice it will be okay for her

But - oh yes - people will be concerned - oh yes - that can be a problem - does she have an alarm system set up for her with a button to access help on a wrist band or necklace? - if she doesn't maybe it's time for her to have that rather than use the wheelie

Aw - time marches on for all of us - mmmmmm yeah

Okay - Shaz - on a better note - I don't know if the birds have noticed the bird bath but they have been eating the bread on the table - and seeing as it got a bit dry on the table in the sun they were belting the slices on the tables - hey birds - soak the bread in the water - hey - the bird bath guys - that will work

Never mind - they managed - and then last night and again this morning after all the bread had gone twice they were squawking at me to put out more - so I put out one of the seed sticks

Well - these were black birds btw - they have gone elsewhere for food - they haven't found the seed stick yet - but with all the noise they made they will attract other birds

That was a good idea Shaz - I am enjoying this

does she have an alarm system set up for her with a button to access help on a wrist band or necklace?-- no not yet @Owlunar

concerned family have been giving me lots of advice , it is hard to decide what to do , and also what mum will accept at this stage @Former-Member

I was just talking to mr shaz and I am thinking my mum does not tell me everything and also I am wondering how much she is eating too

That was a good idea Shaz - I am enjoying this -- I am soo glad @Owlunar, maybe put a dish of water on the table ?

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Good idea again @Shaz51

I have moved the table nearer the bird bath and put a dish of water on top of the table near the seed stick

I have to go out for a while - maybe when I do that the birds will find the water - it's a pretty warm day and of course - there is a bowl of water under the back tap - there always is - for birds, cats and possums and anything else that needs it during the hot weather

Best let you Mum make up her own mind about what she needs Shaz - though suggesting the alarm system might be a good idea - I have one - I needed it once or twice - it was good to have and it doesn't hurt anyone or hamper me at all

But people - d'uh - including me - will have advice - your mum is fighting old age and I understand that one - I am not at all in the mood for old age - eh - and - er um

Yeah - old age is no place for sissies - I think Phyllis Diller said that

We have four bird baths + a half wine barrel that our local birds love. I suspect they avail thdmselves of the chooks water too. Even had a goshawk visit one. It has been a bit warm so I probably need to go and refill them. Having the water keeps the birds in the garden.

@Owlunar my friend calls my mum a 'tough old broad'. Mum's mind is sharp but her body let's her down. She is fighting succumbment to old age every step of the way and I would not expect anything less 😀.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hi @Former-Member

I've been in the habit of putting bowls of water out for the local wild-life for years but because I have had a cat it might have kept some away - but she's gone now so I have a bigger interest in the birds

I have had birds with babies before the Body Corporate insisted a lot of my vines be cut back because of the damage they were doing to the next door's property - but I had a pair of ring-necked doves with a nest they left safe but when the babies started falling out of the nest I would put them back and somehow the babies thought I was safe - so that was okay

And such fun when they got bigger and started following me about when I was outside in the drive - the babies right behind me and the parent birds behind them - no cat around then

And - I get your mother too - I call myself a "tough old bird" and not giving up easily - I life alone and like it that way - My Aged Care called me "Socially Isolated" and I don't feel that way at all. If I was stuck in some place where people were organised into whatever they get organised into I would probably be called "anti-social"

I like my life the way it is - but the years keep passing
