Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

I agree with you, but on the other hand its almost as though they have eventually gotten used to the 'rut' and become quite dependant that when it seems as though change is happening again, its another whole new lifestyle change that seems too tiring that it agitates them. I think similar thoughts but then again, they still and will for a while struggle with their own emotions and feelings let alone ours too. Tackle the self doubt is a good step 🙂

hello @Shaz51 @Former-Member @Determined

I know too well, the forced clean up debacle.

from suffering chronic, severe major depressive disorder(latest diagnosis in hospital now discharged 29/3)

I shuffle piles to other piles. Find cupboards to shove said shuffled piles into.

then when needing to refer to something received at an earlier date, a frantic, wild searching of all different piles ensues.

Basically there is not constructive system. Brain does not like orderly, constructive at moment too much resemblance, reminder of work. Was perfectionist in my job.

As for the shed, many piles of ?? completely covered with cobwebs, dust and goodness know what else.

Understand your dilemma. as others have said let it be for now. this is my latest motto.

House on market so have regular pile shuffling and into cupboard shoving.

needless to say lose stuff on a regular basis. not helpful in the least. where i am at the moment so breathe and i focus on now.

@Former-Member .... if you can afford to .... it can be worth getting a cleaner in for two hours to, say, go through your shed putting things into better order.

I had multiple moves ...., not enough furniture to house our belongings .... , builders in completing a house while we were living in it ...., extensions on extensions ....., 2 x house floods ....., a move overseas and back, into a too-small house to begin with ....., and on its gone .....

I know about mess, clutter, and endless sorting ..... when I can afford to I get a cleaner in, point at a room, and ask them to sort it into a better order ..... !!

Sooo worth it for me, as it saves so much on brain-space and stress, but gets things done.

I hope this helps.

❤️💕

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

a good suggestion except my husband will not agree
the shed as in double garage size is his domain so he can deal with it. I try very hard not to have to go in there only when necessary. thanks faith

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hi,

someone directed me to this thread as I'm experiencing a lot of stress coping with my partners on going mental health issues.

I was at work today and needed to contact him as he was joining me and I couldn't get through over a couple of hours. I freaked out and almost left work (I was about to deliver a performance to 100 people). He called just in time, his phone was flat and he was at the other end of the house when I rang the landline. I was worried has was laying in bed in one of his triggered near catatonic states.

im taking myself away next week for respite but need to organise food for him before I go or he won't eat properly.

sorry to dump...it's a bit tough ATM.

thanks for listening

Goldele
