Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

thank you @Determined

how are you and your family today

went to church this morning and my SIL says " ohh you look sick, so pale in the face " (thanks )

then had morning tea with my mum, and aunty , we fixed all the problems of the world

then We taped up 6 big boxes which holds 24 shoeboxes in each big box for "Samaritan`s Purse Shoebox appeal where you fill up a shoebox with things for children around the world will receive a christmas - pretty good for a small country town and surrounding area

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

@Shaz51, no good and a little concerning that you are looking so ill 😞

That is a great effort for Samaritan`s Purse appeal,
Our church and school usually get improved also, it is a great ministry and outreach.

I am at the uni hiding today trying to get some progress on my assessment. (easily distracted at the moment even sitting here by myself so not having much luck).

My darling was going to take the boys to church this morning by herself while I came to uni but S2 decided he didn't want to go as he stacked his bike yesterday and is looking a bit battered and busied. (He's a bit precious about his appearance lol, don't know what he is going to do for school tomorrow, can't hide forever-)

My darling actually dropped by with some lunch and a big smile for me earlier after a visit to the chemist for supplies to patch up the little man, that was a lovely surprise. It is a relief to see her looking happier.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

@Shaz51 not surprised that you might be looking a bit pale with all that has been going on (I await your thanks .... LOL). It certainly was a good effort with the shoeboxes.

@Determined hope things have taken a turn for the better and your Darling will have a sustained period of wellness.

@Appleblossom will check out Dr Ghaemi out.

@Faith-and-Hope thinking of you during this period.

Mr Darcy discharged today. He has been feeling a little anxious, OCD thoughts up a bit, will see how things go as post operative pain recedes.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Thanks @Former-Member, really trusting that this is a sign of things to come.

There have been some relativly small steps that have been giant leaps for my darling in recent weeks. She was actually looking more content this morning than I have seen in a while. Also a simple gesture like dropping by with some lunch without an underlying motive is not somthing I have seen in a long time. (That sounds harsh but is said in the context of her wellness). Feeling more positive than I have in a long time despite current anxiety re studies.

@Shaz51
Perhaps one of those pill organisers might be necessary - would Mr Shaz use one?

@Determined
Hard to relax when things have not been good. It is nearly 2 years ago for us, the intervening time has really been tapering meds and recovering from the acute episode, I am hoping we can get more improvement once he gets over the current surgical pain.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Its a long road @Former-Member, trust things pick up for you both once this current hurdle is past.

For us it will be ~18 months since the wheels fell off so to speak but the end of this week will mark 12 months since my darling first went back into hospital (previous admission was end of 2014).
She went into hospital shortly after bubs 1st birthday, (Turns 2 on Tuesday). pdoc would have had her in earlier but she refused due to not wanting to be away from bub.

Agreed, it is so hard to relax and be confident and content with the current situation after being in survival mode for so long.
