Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

@Shaz51

When memories are evoked I have found that the unfamiliar and distressing feelings that came at the time of crisis have sometimes resurfaced as well as reigniting fears of what could happen should relapse occur. My response is to want to hold Mr Darcy tightly and to sometimes seek reassurance from him that he will let me know if things are not good. I allow myself to have these feelings, I think it is important to acknowledge them and to work through the ongoing grief that a diagnosis brings (ensuring that I don't end up wallowing in self pity.)

Take care Shazzle Dazzle, be ever so gentle with yourself.

Darcy

yes @Former-Member & @Shaz51 and all other carers who all care so much for their loved ones and reach out to help others

I think that as long as there is a balance, a safety net of your own, then you can allow your thoughts to travel back to such an horrendous time, knowing that you have pulled through, each in their own way.

this is different for everyone, as the situation, individual personalities, circumstances at the time need to be considered.

talking through with our loved ones how we feel is so important when we are able to

I am just feeling for everyone on this side and no that all of the situations are so different, including my own. I want every single person to know that the very fact that they write on here just spells out loud and clear how much they truly care for their loved ones.

so phew... all good... no one upset... i hope,,, darcy,,, humour needed please... i have been too too deep again...

oh no another rabbit hole....

@Former-Member, wetsuit on and snorkel ready for going in deep.

Each of us different, yet drawing strength from each other, yes, learning how to cope with these feelings is paramount.

Mohill, you and @Shaz51 are just wonderful, here for so many whilst going through so much of your own.

Enjoy your drinks, I'm off to an appointment.

@Faith-and-Hope @Determined

Oh goodness I am so very sorry

I meant help remembering couple's names following on from my post

how awful to put you through worrying

I didn't dream that it would read that way

perhaps I had better leave the fun stuff and niceties alone

an example of how careful we must be about what we write
