A Poem? Maybe?

A Poem? Maybe?

Hurt, Lost, Broken

My life is in tatters, my dreams have crumbled around me

I had the life, i had it all

How did i fail

How did i fall

Cruising through life, using everything i could

To keep myself moving

To keep myself high

The ups are fantastic, the best place to be

Altho i could never see the disease

The illness taking over me

No treatment

No plan

No help

Just searching for the high that evaded me

Using this drug and that

To maintain that happy place

When in reality

I was just wasting space

Broken and tired

My life in ruins

How stupid of me to believe

That i was as fantastic as i could be

Tortured now, by the memories

The lows, so low some will never know

How quickly life changes

When everything crumbles and falls in a heap

Now i am lonely

Now i am unloved

Now i have no peace

No place

No love from the one i hurt so much

I still miss her dearly

And altho i know we will never be

I can always hope it untrue

A dream to awaken from

Faith only blames me

Treatment only dulls me

Pain is all i feel

Hate of myself is all i can think

Why did i not notice

How could i not see

Why did this happen

Unanswered questions just for me

The hardest part of it all

Is knowing i will never get to say goodbye

To those who were closest to me

All hope is lost

No freedom for me

Forever trapped in this hellhole

I hope not for an eternity

Thank you

Sorry i just needed to write

Re: A Poem? Maybe?

hey, liked your poem. though think it could of been shorter-more punchy with bit of editing? Just a thought.

Re: A Poem? Maybe?

Thanks @stan. It was just something that tumbled out briefly yesterday. I don't usually write poetry but thought I'd throw my hat in the ring so to speak.

That's great. I would say write more-there's seems like you can spin a line! There's nice imagery and turn of phrase. It seems lonely (In a good way).

Re: A Poem? Maybe?

Ah, being new here when I posted my poem last week I wasn't aware of this lovely thread where community members have posted their writings.

Mine is here:

A Poem: On living with bi-polar affective disorder

Poetry writing is such a wonderful way of being able to state the unstateable isn't it?
We can delve into the depths or shower our love, or capture snapshots of life with it.

What a wonderful bunch of creative folk we are. ❤️

Re: A Poem? Maybe?

Thanks, @kristin. Good to hear from you.

Mindfulness has been part of my life over many years, though I'm not very disciplined. Mainly, when writing, I like to keep things simple. I think the words I wrote were like a sketch of a memory of a moment from the day. I spend a fair bit of time alone and this can get me morose at times. I like to remember that I am not alone with the world, even when I'm not talking to someone. Also the last line reflects on how people show awareness of each other even when they are strangers just passing in the street.

Re: A Poem? Maybe?

Been awhile, found myself thinking of you all, i have tried posting a few times over the last few months, but man i have not liked a single thing i have written, nada not one single sentance........ Why??? well you see....... i will try and make sense of it all and make it apparent for all too see, including me.

Twisted fates, i'm sure we can relate,

pushing and pulling getting stagnate

outwardly shining altho i am declining

keeping my secrets locked up inside me

plummetting down wearing the biggest smile

down so low but only looking on show

faking the good times to out weigh the bad

drawn down hard is it really that bad,

cos next thing you know i am flying like a bird

touching the tops of clouds

arms out stretched, can do what i want

but that ride is fast over, and the decline is again

telling lies to hide my struggles

but i tell myself the biggest ones of all.

As you might tell i am/ have been very up and down, i am finding myself, as a friend pointed out to me very recently working too hard, and getting into a similar state, that i was in last year, which is not good, so i thought i would actually come on here and post something and read others posts.

I am glad i have a space to come to when i need

Thank you
